AVOID BAD SELLER: Curtis James; mrmazda@sbcglobal.net, revvinsevens.com

Worst seller I have come across in many year. Extremely disrespectful and untrustworthy. Definitely look elsewhere. I called to purchase an fd part and inquired on a second part when out of nowhere he became agitated and hung up on me in the middle of my inquiry.

There are definiely good honest sellers out there that are trustworthy and should be given business; Curtis James is not one of them.

Gringo Grande 08-01-12 10:33 AM

So...where is the bad deal? While it hardly makes for a good seller, just because he ALLEGEDLY became irritated with you doesn't make him a bad seller....just a bad communicator.

It would be interesting to hear both sides of the story on this one. If you didn't purchase anything from him, how is he a bad seller?

Please note: I have no idea who you are and I've never purchased anything from the guy you are speaking of. However, it is obvious there is most likely a large piece of this story missing.

7dust 08-01-12 04:56 PM

I'm going to say that while I have never talked to Curtis on the phone, I have bought many parts through his ebay auctions for many years now and he has always been very courteous in our email exchanges.

Parts have always been in better condition than he represents them and the prices are almost always more than reasonable.

No offense to OP. I'm not sack-riding here, I'm just saying.

There are two sides to every story and I'm interested in the other side of this one.

I havent dealt with him in years, but I had an identical experience with numerous transactions.

I'm local and I know quite a few people who have bought from him, never hear nothing negative. Just my two cents.

+1 :)

RX427 08-03-12 12:20 PM

I'm glad to hear some have had a positive experience.

Bottom line: If I'm going to hand over cash to someone I don't know for a supposed part, I need to be able to have an adult level conversation and he instill some kind of trust that he will do what he says according to our agreement.

There are way too many scam artists these days who will take your hard earned $ and dissappear.

Curtis James is the worst excuse of a seller I have come across in many years. His grade school mentality along with condescending remarks and hanging up the phone on a potential first time buyer after 10 seconds is unexcusable.

Find a stand up guy to hand over your $ to. Not an unstable and immature person such as this.

So what you're saying is that because he didn't kiss your a$$, he is a bad seller and a scammer?

Normally, this isn't a hard concept. You locate a parts seller who has been around for a few years and has a good reputation...you ask for a part...you get a price...if it's reasonable, you pay, they send you the part, simple right? We're not launching the space shuttle here folks. IF a seller has a long time good reputation, they're not going to risk it all on your particular transaction, so get over the paranoia.

So why do so many people put so much more thought into it and screw up things, then complain?

jasong21 08-07-12 09:55 PM

I just bought a set of s5 tail lights from him on Ebay. When they got here ups had damaged them and one had a crack. I can't say they were not packaged properly because they were boxed and each was wrapped in three layers of bubble wrap. We worked it out to where he refunded half of what I payed for them. I also had the option of waiting till he got another drivers side to replace the one that got cracked. If I had asked I probably could have sent them back and got a full refund. So I personally can not say that he is a bad seller. I walked away satisfied and would buy from him again.

RX427 08-08-12 10:40 AM

invinciblerx do you work for this guy lol?

I'm simply stating my unacceptible experince with a bad seller. This is my experince and opinion and am putting this up to help other buyers to make an informed decision. As a business owner, you don't make a good name for yourself or get ahead by being a dick to everone who calls. Karma sucks.

Funny that you try and argue as if it will change what happend and furthermore it has nothing to do with you.

Rotaryhaven 08-08-12 11:04 AM

10 seconds is hardly a conversation. I am a seller myself, I've had people calling and bugging me over the most stupid stuff and still calling me in the wee hours of the night. They want to call about a part for an hour which is a simple 5 min conversation to finalize. He probably gets a whole bunch of calls a day. Sometimes we get tied up. I have bought from Curtis and vice versa. Not trying to judge one from the other.

I've had people wanting me to send pictures for clutch bolts that I was selling them for $10 shipped just because of my time going to the post office.

I am not getting overly worked for $10. Not worth my time.

What part are you calling about? What exactly did he tell you?
Maybe you can call him again and try to resolve the problem.

Gringo Grande 08-08-12 01:03 PM

@RX427 - Seriously the only one who looks untrustworthy and a PIA is you. There is no way in hell I would sell you a single bolt much less any other part based on your initial and subsequent posts.

You have yet to provide any proof that he is a "Bad" Seller in regards to being untrustworthy. Even if your stated position that "He became agitated and hung up on me" is true...and based on the "Oh I'm perfectly innocent and did nothing wrong" stance you seem to want to continue to take...I find this unlikely. Because he hung up on you does not make him untrustworthy.

If you had ordered a part and he never delivered...that would be a bad seller and being untrustworthy. Quite frankly I find it easier to believe based on your posts that you were an asshole and got butt hurt when he hung up on you and decided you weren't worth his time.

I'm certain as always the truth lies somewhere in between but I sincerely doubt you are as innocent as you are proclaiming...and even if you are, this is poor customer service not being an untrustworthy seller.

and this is why many people think that everyone is out to get them. does not mean that everyone is.

yes in the past decade there have been many scam artists popping up because many deals are not face to face but with a little history searching you can find the info you need without trying to dig into someone on the phone to "test" them and then give a bad review. it's annoying enough trying to earn trust from people without them instantly treating you like a thief.

i've kept my cool but also dealt with many people who called about stupid innate shit that wasn't worth my time. put yourself on the other side of the fence and think about it for a bit, i know this is a difficult concept for many people that some people have bad days or that they don't have time to dig through the corners of the shop for a particular obscure part that you may want and only want to pay $5 for it.

EVERYONE has their bad days and many have no help like a secretary to answer calls and always be polite. yesterday i spent 1/10 of my day to go buy some hand cleaner for the shop, that is rediculous and i was irritated as hell because everything works against you sometimes and making up that time nearly impossible. if someone called me during that time i would probably be short as well, especially if i felt someone was wasting even MORE of my time.

basically cut people some slack, no one here can say that they have never been irritated by something someone else has said and that hardly makes them untrustworthy.

Japan2LA 08-08-12 01:23 PM

Curtis is good people.. Been in the Game for LONG time..

Surely you caught him on a bad day or expected him to jump thru hoops in order to do business with you. He moves alot of parts and keeps the rotary community going...

crjrx7 08-08-12 07:43 PM

Thanks for all of the positive support, guys.

Yes, It was a bad day. First, he asked for several pics of an FD rear hatch. I sent 2 to him. He then called me and asked some questions. I told him the price would be 200.00 and he said "I am not paying that". I said "Well call someone else then" and hung up. Keep in mind I was loading my screaming baby in my car as week spoke. May not be an acceptable excuse, but it is what it is. It has probably been the first time I have ever been even that rude on the phone.

Anyways, I get home and check my emails. This one was from Mr RX427:

> Really?! LOL how old are you son. Wrong move. Your info will now be posted up on rx7 club and a few other sites for ALL TO SEE as AVOID AT ALL COSTS SELLER. Pretty dumb to disrespect someone you don't know as a seller. Hopefully you'll learn...Good luck

i am seriously considering making a list of people to put on an ignore list. it's ironic that some people feel they are being diesrespected even though they tend to start it.

this isn't a damn fleamarket folks! i get people trying to make their own pricing lists all the time and that is NOT how it works. when you call a business you may try to come to an agreement on a price but saying "i'm not paying that" it would instantly irritate me as well.

hell if i was in a snarky mood i might even say in response "go cobble one out of some sand and rocks then" *click*.

yes, not a good business practice but with how selfish many people are these days it is easy to do! it's a pain when people try to get you down, no one likes their day screwed up by those people and it makes me feel a little better when i can shovel it back out of my lap.

Agreed... If this is what he said then I double down on my support with Curtis.

Curtis, next time simply say "Goodbye!" before you hand up! Conversation over...

Derex'7 08-09-12 01:07 PM

In my point of view I see the seller been a bit rude thats all.
Even he recognizes on his own,but that it doesn't make him a bad seller.
He didn't rip you off or scamed you.
This Section(The Bad & fugly Businesses) is just to report these type actions .
Its just my opinion :)

Curtis, if you're going to post up a story on a public forum and expect me not to call BS you're wrong.

First off, I never said "I'm not paying that". What you said was you had a hatch with wiper. I said I'm looking for a hatch without the wiper. You said you may have one and you would try to get back to me later on that. I said I had no interest in buying the wiper hatch and right in the middle of me saying I'd like you to get back with me on the non wiper hatch, you abruptly said "well buy from someone else" and hung up.

This in on top of a overwhelmingly piss oor deamenor and sounding as if you were doing me a favor by even picking up the phone.

That's the only reason I would have to be upset and want to warn everyone else to stay away.

Also, that supposed quote from me has been edited so again, get your story straight as you're already attracting more than enough negative publicity as it is.

RotaryEvolution 08-11-12 04:34 PM

bad experience? yes. untrustworthy? no.

crjrx7 08-11-12 08:33 PM

Ok

Well, I have reason to lie here. " I am not paying that" Is exactly what you said. I heard it Chrystal clearly.

I have been doing this for a long time (10 plus years). I also plan on doing it for the next 25 years until I decide to hang it up. If you want to sling up dirt, just remember that the rotary community is a small on and I am not going anywhere.
