What kit to buy
 
ok I'll start with my car. 93 touring new engine, street port, 3mm seals, 67mm turbo .93 hotside, power fc, 550/1680cc fuel, 255 pump, custom v-mount ic, no emissions straight pipe. made 328 @ 10psi on fuel map only tune, goal is 450 to 500 with AI, no more than 20 psi boost, I want it to last :)

it looks like you have most of the proper pieces to reach your goal.

what will be the usage of your car? street, track, drag?

if drag racing is your interest a progressive system would work well.

if track (road racing) is in your plans a cell tuned system would work better as it is able to be tuned more accurately in throttle transitions.

also, what do you plan to use as injectant? water, alcohol or a mix?

if it is alcohol, you will need a fuel cell and it should be located in your back hatch area. see my thread (sticky) as to component location. don't be daunted by "fuel cell." they are inexpensive and fit well into the car.

as to simplest, given what you have already assembled, i suggest that "best for the need" be operative instead. most kits are relatively simple these days and most are easy to operate.

while most of us focus on turbos and the like i suggest that time invested as to AI will be VERY well spent. do it right and you will have it all. run 20 psi on pump w no knock and cool temps.

let's hear more details as to usage etc..

well It's a weekend/ sunny weather car, mabe a trip to the drags once a year, but 99.9% street, just want to have the safe power there when i want it, and i do have a heavy foot, I do plan on getting another tune with the AI, but i don't even know how to use my own datalogit, so ease of use is important, the controllers scare me, i'd like something that just comes on and i don't have to worry about it.

Hello, I bolded the last sentence to point out that the HFS-5 would be a great kit to satisfy this requirement. Water is injected based on FIDC and more or less the tuning consists of tweaking the turn on point and testing different mixtures for best results. The HFS-5 kit is not a simple kit to install or low cost kit to purchase but once setup and the DDS3 gauge is properly calibrated the system works on its own........afterwards, checking things during regular car maintenance such as lines and wiring for chafing and backflushing the filter to keep it clean is pretty much all that needs to be done.

Has anyone installed this kit yet? I was wondering if there was a write up or feedback anywhere to be found on the web. I actually own the kit and have it sitting in a box in the trunk of my car. I haven't gotten the time to go about the install. I am also quite scared to tune it.

I want to inject a mix of probably 25% meth for vaporization and 75% water for detonation suppression. I will have one nozzle precompressor and one nozzle pointing directly at the throttle butterflys in the intake elbow. I think I am going to mount the DDS3 gauge where the stock coolant temp gauge is since it fits perfectly and I have coolant temp on the PFC...and oil temp from a Defi gauge.

The kit is far from simple so I was just looking for anyone with feedback. I was actually going to post a thread about it, and probably still will, because I doubt I will get all my questions answered hijacking this thread.

I do not have info on any RX7 write ups but I do have a couple of SRT-4 installs worth looking at......theres some good info and some good images. Regardless of car type I think a lot of what anyone installing a HFS-5 would read in these could be very useful.

My advice on the install is get the kit layed out on the driveway/garage floor next to the car, mimicking the install but not actually hooking anything up. At this point you have an idea of how things will kind of be located.

Decide where the DDS3 gauge is going, decide where the junction box will be located as well as the FIA2......this helps with wiring. Pump will go in the trunk, and theres a separate harness for this = straight forward in getting it hooked up.

Go slow tackle each part of the kit a a separate little sub project that in the end will have all added up to the finished project.
