Wannaspeed kit installed pics

Before I bought this kit, I looked around for different installations/tank locations/etc. and didn't find too much out there. So, I thought I'd share my install.

A few notes:

1) Brent seems like a great guy and was very helpful and responded to many questions quickly; both before I purchased the kit and after.

2) The kit is well put together with quality parts. The price is very fair. I had to buy two 1/8" NTP fittings to connect boost hoses, but it didn't bother me at all. No kit will fit every users needs perfectly, having to spend $5 on fittings is no issue.

3) I also decided to use a flow gauge to tell how the system is working real-time while driving. I purchased this: AEM Water/Methanol Flow Gauge 0-500CC with Analog Face. (I bought the 1000 cc one).

4) Mounting the tank was a pain. I have very little room to work with, but was able to fab up some brackets with random bits from Lowes and stuff I had laying around the garage. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

5) I set the boost switch using an electric tire pump. I tested the system with an air compressor; everything worked perfectly the first try.

I plan to get the car tuned in the next month or two, so I can't report on how the kit works yet. My goal was to switch to a smaller turbo (GT4088R to BW S360) and run it at higher boost (20 to 25 psi), and to add a cat. I'm hoping to break 425 rwhp with a cat and great response.

Clean install looks nice. I just received my kit and like you said well put together and to top it off Brent is great to deal with. My question was do you have any detailed pictures of how you installed valve into air filter? what method if any did you use to make sure the bolt does not loosen and hit turbo?

I was thinking of putting a screen over inlet then air filter but seems like that might make more problems like droplets sitting on screen, rust etc. There is a gap between the face and bolt what did you use to take up that space? Plain old washers?

Any help is greatly appreciated I have been searching but if I missed the install that shows air filter assembly please point me in the right direction Thanks

moehler 10-17-13 07:28 PM

I didn't use any washers, specifically since my air filter top was thick enough to fill the gap, and has a rigid metal top. I used a high temp thread locker and tightend it as tight as I could. I'll check if I have pics.

Thanks also talked with Brent should be set to jet..

Wow. Looks great. I just emailed Wannaspeed to get their advice on a AI kit for my setup...400whp 93 Octane @ 15 psi. AI safeguard only.

Looks nice :)

Can you tell me more about your flow sensor? I have two of those laying around, but only way to display them is the CMGS.

moehler 11-02-13 07:43 PM

The flow sensor is from AEM and a link to it is in the original post. Other than that, there's not much I know about it.

Shaman 11-02-13 08:12 PM

Must have read right past it. I have the failsafe version of the kit in my bedroom I need to sell off.

im looking at getting this kit too for my GT40 turbo

jon4825 12-10-13 09:12 AM

How do you adjust the flow rate for your horsepower requirements? I see there is an adjustable sensor to turn flow on and off at a given PSI, but how do you meter the Flow?

From what I read I will need about 400 cc of water for my 400hp FD. Did you order a specific nozzle from wannaspeed?

moehler 12-10-13 09:18 AM

The nozzle has a valve on it that lets you adjust the water flow into the nozzle. With a flow gauge, I'm guessing that you can set it to any reasonable flow rate for your specific set up.

Got a request for a picture of the boost switch/solenoid wiring. Hope this helps.

Thank you bro. I connect the same. Hmm so I test it with the comp set to 20psi, but dmn solenoid wun click.

moehler 12-19-13 05:25 AM

Did you adjust the boost setting? Try turning it to the lowest setting, then incrementally turn it up.

:icon_tup: Well done moehler. If/when I ever go single one of these kits would be on the list.

moehler 01-27-14 10:52 PM

Car put down 454 rwhp at 22 PSI today (with a cat). This kit performed flawlessly....
