my preturbo kit from dudemaaans is installed!
Great news! I have everything together for my pre turbo water injection kit from dudemaaansownrx7. I have to put an inline fuse for the power to the solenoid but its otherwise finished.
Here is a video of everything installed. I took her out and got it up to 15 psi (wastegate spring and 2 bar stock sensor) She roared and i ran out of road. I watched my knock sensor on my Commander and it got highest right before the water kicked in. then it leveled off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx0xO71OB9Y |
Engine bay looks great. Nice video.

I use a cooling mist 50/50 in the charge pipe before throttle body..... in the above application won't the water eventually wear the leading edge of the turbo?
|
thats a great question. i have no idea. so far ive used half a gallon of water. i bought the gt35r used so i guess i could replace the CHRA or whatever if i trash it. then take tons of pics and post them on here :-D

SAAB used pre turbo water injection, in the 1980s, and they found out around 100,000 miles there was some compressor wear, but did not hurt performance at all.
now, how many you guys gonna drive 100K on your turbo rotary. OH YAH!! |
Keep afrs in the low 11s and wind her up to 25psi. Watch that thing completely transform into a wild animal.
Run 100% water and dont worry about compressor wear. Your kit is an aweosme kit. |
rx72c. i cant imagine. I am so excited. She purrs so smooth after hard runs. the car doesnt sound tired. It sounds ready to go again. Im gonna need to richen my map a little. Its in low 12s at high boost.
i need to address my rear tire rubber situation. my 235s cant handle 15 psi fully. what a great problem to have. As a side note, this engine has 25-29k miles on it before i decided to do all this work on her. It runs sooo smooth now. idle and everything. |
Looks good man, glad everything is working well. Wait till 25 psi!.... stock width tires won't stop spinning til 5th gear. A bit unnerving but a blast!
|
Looks great. I'd love to try this out, but don't see where I would be able to mount anything preturbo in my engine bay. I just don't have the room. :(
|
You make room.
If i can fit a jet infront of a 42rs you can fit a jet infront of anything. |

lol at the air filter. Fix that. Youll have room

let this inspire you alittle

Have you had a chance to get your car retuned with the water injection setup on your car??
When you purchased the kit was it pre set to anything as i can see you have a adjustment on the side of the solinoid.... |
got any results yet? Anything? In Car boosting vid?
|
ill post some vids soon. ive been beating the crap out of the car and it responds amazingly. I find every excuse to hit 15psi now. I logged my knock sensor before and after, extensively. The results are inconclusive, as much as the knock sensor is accurate :-) they are lower than before the water injection, but i also never hit 15 psi without it. So i dont have apples to apples comparison either.
You have to be looking for the sound to hear when it kicks in. No pump, no additional new noises. The only thing i think i hear is a different turbo sound after it hits 10psi. I have 500 hard miles on that setup. very solid. ran through 3-4 tanks of water so far. |
I'm keeping an eye on this thread. I like the simplicity of no pump and the availability of simple distilled water.
|
Yeah simple and effective. Mechanical is def a good way to go. And to answer someone elses question, I set his to around 550 cc at 20 psi so it's around 415cc/min at the 15 psi boost he's running now.
|
So what will mine run? I'll be running this same kit with my GT35R with the ported shroud.
I plan on seeing how much boost I can push and how much power I can get with a nice conservative tune. I have dyno time scheduled for July 10th and plan to report back after. |
Yours is set very similar 550-600cc/min at 20 psi, depending on how much boost you can push out of that turbo will determine how much water is injected.
I look forward to seeing at what boost level the power stops going up with that turbo and the preturbo. My turbo is so big that my compressor map is barely effected at the boost levels I run. A gt35r might be about optimal with a preturbo setup. I remember you saying the dyno you go to is also on the conservative side. It's nice to see so many people building these cars the way they should be, high hp and reliable. |
Well my kit is in :icon_tup: now I just need to find some time my brother and I can mess with it.
I actually think his dyno is set to an accurate correction factor. I went to the drag stripe for the first time and my best time was a 12.6 and my fastest trap speed was 115.96mph. I was told at 400whp I would be around 120mph. So I figure since I suck being that it was my first time I'm right around 375whp. I'd like to be able to make power up to 25 psi, optimistically, but I doubt it. I just signed up for the tuning notes also which I hope helps my brother to clean up my tune a little bit. |
Look forward to seeing how much both of you make.
RX72c I think that is the biggest picture I have ever seen on a computer screen. I'll have to hook my tv up to see the full view. |
