Methanol Tank Size and Placement
 

I'm looking to buy a tank that I can place in an FD that will fit behind any of the rear plastics for a methanol system. Has any one had luck getting a coolant overflow tank from a motorcycle (or any tank for that matter) that could be hidden behind any of the rear plastic pieces?

Devil's own has a tank that you can mount the pump on top. It's like 115

I think it only holds like a gallon or 1.5

I was thinking more along the lines of a motorcyle overflow tank. Something that only hold a liter or less. I'm only planning to use the methanol system while dragging or autox.

it goes fast... I think the smallest size is about 1/2G.

Where is the rear windshield wiper tank located on an FD? I have an R1 so I don't have one.

I have the coolingmist tank that you can mount the pump in. I really don't like it. I am moving to a 4 quart tank from US Plastics. Much better IMO, if you have a vertical mounting surface. I am integrating my water injection system into my speaker box...kinda wierd but, it will be all good when it is done.

I will let the coolingmist tank go cheap if you want it...

So how are you intergrating your system in the speaker box? Are you programming the pump to activate when you hear the FnF soundtrack?!!? LOL

The tank is just the wrong shape. I makes mounting it a pain in the FD. It is nice that the pump can be integrated but it takes up a ton of space and I dont like the way it looks.

I built my speaker box to have a vertical face, facing the rear of the car. I am mounting this tank to the face of the box. The water line runs into the box then back out of the box to the pump which is on the other side of the speaker... basically when you look at it you will only see a pump on the left, then speaker, then tank. You won't see any lines. This will free up all the trunk space (what little there is) behind this.

Basically the speaker box is just a pretty ideal mounting surface for a WI tank. It keeps everything up and out of the way of the spare tire well and frees up as much trunk space as I can get. It also is pretty tidy.

I am sure there are better ways, more integrated, neater, more efficient, allow for larger tanks, etc. But I think this will work best for me and my application. Plus the tank from US Plastics was REALLY cheap. It is very high quality too. Too bad I didn't know about it when I bought my tank.

hook me up with a link or a phone number, I am looking at a tank like yours, or a fuel cell. Both are $$ and the cells are HUGE.

I thought by 'intergrate' you meant like with the ECU... LOL
