I have... had a FC1000. But it crapped out and now my car is sitting at Gotham Racing getting a Twin Power installed. I heard the FC1000's were known for crapping out, and I was told that the FC1000 only amps the leading not both.

Well .... looks like I am going to have to sell my first born into slavery, and get two crane cam fireballs or something. :(

Or you could get a single ign amp of choice and run 2 coils off of it per the diagram, and not worry about the trailling which does very little for power.

I have been looking at the HKS twin power one, but I can't find any information about if it is able to run sequential ignition. :\

I understand that ... it doesn't increase the sparks power, just messes with the dwell. Is that something the e11v2 could do?

Seq ign as opposed to waste spark does nothing.

Well, ok then .... that saves me a ton of money.. haha. I was told that the leading spark plugs were hotter because of the wasted spark. Looks like I will just be going with a single MSD or something for now, unless I find a twin power for cheap. I doubt that. haha I'm not spraying that much meth, (if any actually) because I don't think I will be going over 10 psi attempting to only get 300 rwhp out of my t04e.

Thanks.

If thats the case then stick with your stock ign, or at most go for a single MSD or equivalent on a stock FC lead coil.

What's good for shielding ignition wiring ?

slo 05-21-08 04:26 PM

For signal wire,

Shielded coax (many types and specifications), using only the inside conductor or shielded audio cables (rca cables).

I prefer the coax and it should be grounded at the ECU only, this is only required for the pickup (cas) to ECU wiring.

So, you're actually using RCA wire ?

slo 05-21-08 07:34 PM

not currently, but I did use it in a previous install, currently I am using a haltec with a brand new OEM Mazda harness I just made an adapter plug. Stock signal wires are shielded.

The haltech harness pickup wires are also shielded, I did use RCA cables before in an install where I had to extend the pick wires. It did work.

Also, there is no point in using shielded wire for ign outputs which are fairly high energy, what I mean is the ECU's outputs to the igniter or ign box.
