after a number of inputs to "settings" on the FJO boost controller did not result in linear responses i elected to not use the boost control function and reinstalled my AVCR. that was a year ago and FJO has been working on it but i plan to use my AVCR. the FJO boost hose is still hooked to my UIM and i do use the overboost function so that is a help.
i plan to dyno next week. howard |
I got mine working, but had to do some tunning on the dyno to get a even boost pattern.
The main problem is, that it the boost changes a bit due to temperature. It would be even better if we could just sett inn the max boost, and it would adjust it automatic. Part from that, The kit has been working flawless.. Nick |
Well, out of the box it is boosting to 20+ Psi, basically keeping the wastegate closed on all 3 switch settings. Changing the duty cycle % also did not fix this. Controller was hooked up per the diagram EXT goes to manifold pressure and OUT goes to the wastegate. I think the unit might be faulty since you can blow through EXT and it blows out the OUT port with it powered down.

I figured it out after calling FJO, very helpfull bunch. The boost solonoids hook up differently then normal boost controllers.

FJO mislabled the solenoid hook up in my instructions (08).
their diagram for the CSV0001 had the ports switched on the side of the solenoid w 2 ports. the top port was labled IN and actually should be open. the bottom port was labled EXT and should input from the UIM or wherever you draw your signal. hopefully that has been changed. hc |
It wasn't that. They don't explain that its not like a normal boost controller that hooks up to the TOP of the wastegate. You have to hook it up to the BOTTOM for it to control the closing of the gate that way. This is for a 3 port solonoid, the 4 port is a little different.

So all the "problems" are worked out now? I plan on running 100% meth so what pump should I look to employ???

there are two ports on one side of the solenoid. "bottom" is the lower port as the solenoid sits on its base.

Quick question...where did you guys mount your pumps? I was looking for a place near where Howard had his alky pump mounted but it seems like it won't fit in there. Is it imperative the pump be mounted lower than the tank? I mean, it IS a pump, not exactly gravity fed. And just how much airflow is needed to keep this thing cool enough? I was thinking about putting it in the spare tire well, or if I can, make a bracket and mount it next to where the diff connects to the ppf. That would get great airflow and be below the tank but its kind of a tight fit there. I also thought about on the back of the subframe, just not sure how to attach it. Also thought about near the radiator, but would it be a problem being that far away from the tank?
