Anti rust/lubricant/cleaner type additive for water inj??

Is there something that can be used with water injection to help keep the nozzles clean, lubricate the pump and prevent corrosion without hurting injection performance?

machining water soluble oil? meth?

I use water soluble oils as a coolant & lubricant in some of the machine tools in my shop. It works fine, and does leave a sticky oil residue which inhibits corrosion. Given the latter, I'm not sure I would characterize it as a cleaner in any way. It should have a mild solvent action on other oils though. Not sure it would be happy with alcohol.

Back in the day, we would use soluble oil as a rust inhibitor in our cars' engines if we were running straight water rather than anti-freeze. I used it a lot and it worked fine, at least on steel, iron and copper or brass. Don't know what it might do with aluminum; I doubt that it will react, but I'm not sure how well it might protect since aluminum is more active electrolytically.

Well, I'd only use low concentrations if I do.

I had a stainless steel valve in my water injection setup that developed some rust internally that hindered injection flow. I took the valve out but I wonder if other things may also corrode.

And even though I use distilled or reverse osmosis filtered water I still worry about mineral deposits that may clog the nozzles. I inspect them every so often and clean them if necessary so it's not a problem for me but just in case...
