AI Pressure Sensor
 

Hey guys,

I;m running my water meth through my ecu (LINK G4) and I Recently installed a Defi pressure sensor (as i had used them for fuel and oil linked into my ecu and wanted to use the same lookup table for simplicity) in my water/meth supply line to incorporate into a failsafe logic (i'll list that below) and when i did i used the only adaptor i could get on the day as a temporary solution, however when i changed it out for a different brand of fitting i noticed that there was a lot of rust/corrosion looking buildup in the actual sensor port (sorry i didnt get pictures). Is this simply due to the material on the sensor, i wouldve thought it was a stainless body by the looks o it? Is anyone else running a pressure transducer in their setup and if so, what brand are you using to get around this issue?

For those interested, my failsafe logic is as follows:

- WM pump activates @ 10psi MGP;
- Auxillary output "A" activates and switches power to digital input "A" (wired directly in) to activate boost table "B";
- Auxillary output "A" is also wired to a high boost switch and the other side of that switch connects power to digital input "B" which when the switch is made, activates boost table "C";
- Two nozzles mounted in the intercooler cold end tank with separte solenoids that activate at 17psi & 25psi MGP;
- Low level indicator wired into ECU and brings up fault light when tank is low.

Hi Brad,

i run a ViPEC V88 and employ pressure sensors for oil, fuel, exhaust backpressure and my 100% meth AI system.

i use Honeywell sensors. i have never noticed any corrosion/rust etc on them over the years. some stainless steel is of a lower grade and can rust. my guess is that if you do actually have rust from the water in your system your sensors are made from such a material... (read China).

I've had good luck using Chinese "316SS" 0-5V 10bar transducers for oil, fuel, and water inj pressure. I can't confirm that they are in fact 316 stainless, but if I was going to choose a material for corrosion, 316 would be a good candidate. I deal with corrosive and embrittling chemicals all day for work and we design nearly everything with 316. YMMV

The sensors are genuine Trust/Defi items purchased from RHDJapan, i would think they werent cheap china parts? the corrosion was actually inside the sensor port not on the outside. Could the fact that the car had been sitting for some time cause this? Ie: no flow in the AI line.
I'd rather not have to replace the sensor as its basically brand new and i would have to map out a new look-up table for the new transducer output :(
