600cc straight water still high egts
im using a 150 psi pump and a m10 nozzle post intercooler.
have a front mount and at 15 psi of boost on a td61, im still seeing 1800-1900 egt F high 11,low 10 afrs. 13* leading with a 10 split. anyone else having same issues? does water actually drop the egts or do egts stay the same and and knock levels stay down? running 93 oct fuel |
What size A/R on that TD61?

Did you mean to say high 10s low 11s Afr? Is that you're timing at peak torque? They say water injection lowers your egt's, I don't have a gauge yet, maybe you should try retarding the timing a little and see if that lowers it? That should be a good amount of water for your power. A bigger turbine housing would help.

Water doesn't necessarily (directly) affect egts but it does keep knock down. The type and amount of fuel, timing and emp (exhaust manifold pressure) are likely to have more of an effect on egt's. Tom--I would expect retarding the timing to increase egts.
Personally, I don't try to tune to egt (for my type of use)--rather egt is incidental to where other parameters want or need to be. |
ok i was just worried because i kept getting told my egts are too high and im gaonna hurt my apex seals.

Can we put this myth to bed. I have done back to back testing and water does not reduce EGT's.
Just for reference my 700rwhp rx7 went to 1050 degrees celcius many times on normal pump fuel with no detonation because of water injection and had no issues. |

well my thing is, at 1800f should i just say screw or be worried something is wrong?

i would be looking very carefully at my exhaust system. your EGTs are higher than they should be given your setup. mid 400 hp ought to be around 1750 tops. i am not saying that higher egts will necessarily break things (and not saying it won't) but it isn't optimum at your output level. of course we presume your thermocouple is properly calibrated. what type of egt system are you running? is it datalogged? what are your calibrations? hc |

given Ito's ports, i am surprised your peak torque isn't 1000 rpm higher. otherwise a good outcome. i note is was pretty hot during your session.
the 5300 peak torque and high egts further make me question your exhaust flow. howard |

give his ports peak tq should be around 6400.
also for the size of your turbo hitting 200 hp at 4300 is probably a couple of hundred late. again, overall not a bad showing... i am not being negative here, just looking for answers re your higher egts. hc |
yea i know ur not being negative i was just trying to understand what u were saying. i appreciate the help, as im trying to get to the bottom of this as well before something gets worse
