VA Ignition Breakup

Hello all, i have a similar post in the second gen area but i thought id post in here.... Hello everyone, I have an s4 rx7 with an s5 bridgeport turbo engine swap. I have an adaptronic Plug and Play ECU and 720cc primary and secondary injectors. I have a stock turbo on the car and its making around 10 lbs of boost but when im up in the higher rpm it stumbles and looses power for random short intervals. I have replaced my spark plugs, my leading ignition coil, and i have also set my timing by restabbing the cas and checking it with a timing light. The only problem is that when im checking the engine with a timing light, i lock the ignition timing in the ecu to 5,20. When i check the pulley for timing its almost 30 degrees advanced, but it idles very well and drives fine under 5000 rpm. Is there a possibility that my pulley is marked incorrectly or is something wrong with my CAS? Any input is appreciated. I will try to upload my ecu file for those interested in looking at it. I am currently using the stock timing from the s5 basemap due to my s5 rotors.

Thanks,

Mike

You mean minus 5 and minus 20?

If you are plus 5 and 20 it will be way out.

high load stumble could be fuel filter or pump too.

Not fuel surge? Does it do it with a full tank, do you have a aurge tank?

This is an old thread but I figured I'd mention it in here as well as maybe start a new thread.

I'm going to be dedicating my old SM4 v1.09 as my engine dyno's run-in bitch/research ECU. If anyone has any problems/ideas/wants to confirm validity of a solution to a problem on an SM4 (or really any ECU if it's just rotary tuning specific, and not SM4 specific) I'm more than willing to give it a whirl. I also will be dedicating a somewhat heavily ported S4 turbo engine with new housings and irons, external oil pump/regulator, almost all the oil enlargement mods that one can do in the irons/gears etc.

Currently we're running a couple 20Bs using Motec gear on the dyno but it'll be ready to accept the SM4/13bt shortly

This section of the forums is pretty dead, but after a couple of months of running with the adaptronic I find that when I reload other times the timing can change, I encourage anyone loading up a new tune to double check your ignition timing,

Yeah, unfortunately Ray Hall and the rest of Autronic never really got the traction/support/dropping their own egos that they'd need to become popular enough to have followings outside of OZ and southeast Asia which is unfortunate because they're so flexible and they were doing real auto-tuning a decade before anyone else. As far as your issue is going I've never had an issue with maps becoming garbled on my SM4s. What chip versions are you running and what software are you tuning with?
