Ray Hall, the international distributor and support person on all Autronic products, does not allow any pricing lower than msrp.

If you call a shop and they give you a lower price than the msrp, make sure that the shop is VASTLY familiar with the system, and WILL support it ( wiring, basic tuning, and optional tuning).
A lot of times people go for the lowest price, and then they cannot get the appropriate support.
Put it this way: with any EMS purchase, you are paying not only for the system, but for the support too. And with Autronic you REALLY WILL need support, unless you are trained on the software...

I think he's saying that it is just more advanced than most hobbiest can handle...

What I am trying to say is that the Autronic wiring and software is not for the average joe that has never touched a standalone.
The Autronic has some very specific startup calibrations for certain cars. It is not as easy as the power fc where you plug it in, car starts and idles perfect, and then you start messing with the settings. Setting up the antilag or traction control is not as easy as the AEM EMS, where you just enable them, and you are done. Setting up the ignition timing offset on a SM2 on a Eclipse 2G is not fun either.
BUT, if the Autronic is setup RIGHT, it gives great results. If it is setup wrong, expect a lot of headaches.
So, frode, if you are an experienced shop or individual, no problem. If you are a customer with NO EXPERIENCE on a standalone from that level, then YOU REALLY need support from the experieced people out there.
The software does not "suck dick". Actually Autronic is the only software that has the datalogger running on the same page as the cal file. When you position the cursor in the datalogger, it points to the exact location on you fuel map. So that is something REALLY NICE.

Yes I agree. However, I do not think it is any harder to get the Autronic wired up and running for the first time than it is to get a Haltech up and running. This just depends on what you are used to. I have done around 10 Autronic installations (for my friends) ranging from 200hp saab and volvos to over 900hp audi 5-cyl and my own 13B. I've done one Haltech install (on a nissan s14) and boy did I think that suck..

Btw, I did my first Autronic install with no former experience with aftermarket computers..

Wiring on all standalones is almost the same ( Autronic, Haltech, Wold 3D, etc), but setting up the software in Autronic for CERTAIN cars is difficult:-) Or the dealers in Norway are more EXPERIENCED and HELPFUL:-)

Agree on the wiring. Well, I do actually think we got the most autronic systems in the world of you count per citzien. However we are a small country (population around 4 millions). The Norwegian dealer is a good friend of mine so I cant complain on the helpful part. If we got problems Ray Hall is only a phonecall or an email away and he will sort you out any time if you have problems. When setting up a 4-cyl the settings are allmost always the same too (not just the wiring), a couple of tweaks in the ignition and trigger setup and you are good to go..
