Have a late model ignition switch, but it would most likely be incompatible with the earlier cars(pretty sure it would work with an Rx 5 though!!)

Your best bet:

Users - nonno, yadav and Benrotaryman seem to have a pastime of wrecking dead and dying Rx4's and would be 100% sure to have what you are after. Postage about $Aus15 to USA. The switch is on the RH side of the steering column over there, yes??

Yes, the switch is on the right-hand side of the steering column.

The RX4 switch has a shorter and fatter tumbler than does the FB or FC ignition switches.

p.s.

I have two cosmo front clips (no engines) with dash, tv, ecu's. Is there any demand for these in AU?

Actually just came across a broken 73 or74 ignition switch yesterday in the stash of junk, amazed to see it has provision for an electrical plug fitting, whereas the later car has multiple fusible links and wires coming out of an epoxy "pot".

Think there was an ad quite recently on Ausrotary wanting a tv for a cosmo, wouldn't have a clue who it was though. No idea of the size of the unit, but shipping may be the main stumbling block.

billyboy,

If you can get a cost quote to ship it via standard postal service (slow boat service is OK with me), let me know.

shipping is to Salem, Oregon 97302, USA

Bob,

from this site, using the postage calculator ~
http://www.auspost.com.au

and taking an uneducated guess at the weight, of about 500g(approx. 1lb), the price would vary between about $7 in your currency by sea and $10 by priority air to anywhere in the continental US.

When I said it was broken - basically the steering lock mechanism has been removed to comply with the racing regulations over here. Not sure if I can find keys for it either, will have a rummage around though.

If you still want it, PM your address and I can whack it in the mail for you.

billyboy,

The tumbler which can be re-keyed, is what I am in need of. If it has the key then that is great, but if it doesn't then that is perfectly alright with me.

The tumbler is what the key actually contacts when it is inserted into the key hole. It also contains some springs and removable tab-like metal inserts to "set the key to the lock".

If the one you have, still has the tumbler in good working condition, then I say let's do the deal. Slow-boat delivery service, from you to me, is OK with me.

Bob

p.s.
I've put a GSL-SE rear end in the RX4 and I'm midway through installing GSL-SE front suspension with an oversized sway-bar.

A few of my other rotary projects: 20b into 87 TII; 20b into red 93 RX7; LS1 V8 into Black 94 RX7; and several others.
