Just out of curiosity, which rule did you use to bring it in? I only ask as if the car will by solely a track car you can use the race/rally rule and pick up a well modified FD for next to nothing ($7-$10K).

You may also find this tread of some use

Thanks for the welcome guys, link is valuable. I want to retain street class registration so i can enjoy the car on the street but it will be a focused and engaging car to drive without too much compromise. Im thinking either a type RZ or type A spirit. Trying to find something with decent low k's. I have one agent looking for me at the moment.

The low K RZ's and Spirit R's get snapped up at auction by the local dealers in Japan. Most add about AUD$5K as a mark up when the sell.

Google "Garagesawada".....

They have a few nice Spirit R's at the moment. I bought my RZ through them, it's brand new. Sawadasan is an honourable dude, you'll be happy with anything you purchase from there.

Cheers.

We have a guy on our local forum that has a brother/sister/girlfriend (i'm not sure) in Japan that a lot of our guys use to get stuff off Yahoo Japan, he may be able to help you import a car from over their, thus may be able to cut out the middle man???

Also have you had a look at the dealership just over the causeway on the left hand side as you enter Albany Hwy area? I can't remember the name of it, but it has a black fence around the yard. They always have a few FD's in there, they may be able to find you what your chasing and bring it in for you.

Cutting out the middleman when buying a FD in Japan could leave you with a lemon.

You seem like you are a fair way into the process, but if no money has changed hands I would recommend checking out www.prestigemotorsport.com.au
I have used them for three vehicles and have no complaints. My FC has 25,000k on it after purchase and has had no issues whatsoever (haven’t even changed the tyres that it came with)

I have seen two spirit R’s with under 1,000 original K’s on them sell in the past month so there are still plenty of clean 7’s out there. There is currently a type RS-R (30th anniversary of the rotary engine, limited 500) with under 10,000k with a starting price of under $Au20,000 (no bids yet)

Spirit R's yes, RZ's depends what version but they are generally quite readily available.

Excellent feedback, thanks guys. No funds have been exchanged at all, im exhausting all options so i appreciate your input. I found a great type A at Garagesawada. If i were to purchase and import personally, any particular process i should be aware of?

cheers

You'll be happy with the car, but be aware that it'll cost well over 50K landed here and rego'ed.

Better off finding a local one, plenty here to pick from....Spirit R's are cheap here at the moment.

True that, Spirit R's are really tumbling over here. I saw one for $41k recently with just 25,000kays on the clock.
