Need some info on New Zealand - Christchurch

Hello guys, long time forum member here.

I work for a large construction company in New Orleans LA, USA. Our company was approached by a large insurance company to look into rebuilding 3 large structures in Christchurch NZ. I am heading there with 6 others as part of an assessment team to determine if we can do the job.

I have some questions that I was hoping my fellow rotorheads could provide some help with...

Can anyone give me the names of a/some large general contractor(s) in NZ?

Can anyone help me find material suppliers in NZ (concrete, steel, masonry etc)?

Can anyone help me find equipment rental (Large, cranes, bulldozers etc)?

Can anyone tell me if my iphone (AT&T) will work there?

I need info on international drivers license, what is involved for me to drive a rental car there?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Also just general things you think that might help to know about your country would be appreciated.

As someone who saw firsthand his hometown devastated by a natural disaster I understand what it means to have people help to put it back together, in New Orleans we recieved help from all over the world. I'm looking forward to returning the favor.

Thanks in advance.

I was in Christchurch for the Feb 22nd quake and I am happy to help where i can, it really is so hard to comprehend how damaged the city is without seeing it first hand, so thank you for helping to put it back together, they need all the help they can get!

If you need security cameras or data cabling done then you just let me know :)

Thanks again guys,

We may need that help. Actually we are looking to meet with a few contractors while we are there.

When I get exact traveling info I'll let you guys know. If anyone has any connections to any General contractors or sub contractors, I would appreciate the information.

Thanks

Kenny

Zonblitz - I hope you enjoy your stay here in our little piece of paradise at the bottom of the world.

Don't forget to do some sightseeing if you get the chance. There are some mind blowing natural wonders down that way :)
