timing with e85
how much more timing r u guys running on e85 than gas lets say up between 15-25psi,
also compared to race gas like c16 do u run same or less timing thnx |
21 psi 12 degrees. was only testing.
|
I am also interested in this....
My engine is high compression(10:1) and I am running around 20psi of boost on e85 too. Thanks. Chris |
we r running 15* @ 20 psi,
will try some more next time |
Oh I see. I am running about 8Deg advance at 20psi across the board with a split of 8 falling to 6 towards the top end.
My engine is high compression though(10:1). Thanks for the info....anyone else? Chris |
Brought the thread back from the dead.
Dynoing my car most likely on Wed. Right now running .76 - .78 lambada(11.3-11.5 gas AFR) 25psi boost falling to 23psi above 7k (out of turbo) 12* 0 split at 25psi 13.5* 0 split at 23psi 15* 0 split at 20psi EGT's are 1450-1500f steady Should I bother to tune leaner or add more timing? Or am I pressing my luck as is. I have an hour avail on the dyno this session. |

would like to know how the timing advance compares to c16.
and how much cooler your engine temps are with E85. |
is e85 decent to run on a n/a. Or am I being crazy?
|
with e85. I generally run 2-3 degrees more timing then normal pump fuel.
On e85 you can run around 5-6 degree advance at around 30psi no worries with a 8 degree split. Around 35psi run around 3-4 degree advance with 8 degree split. Once you start getting close to 40psi start to get some knock with even 0 degrees advance.(you can use water to get rid of the knock, we have done that on a customer car). 25psi run around 9 degrees advance with 8 degree split 20psi run around 11 degrees advance with 8 degree split. Just remember guys. If the engine is built right, it will not a huge amount of advance to make bulk power. Only engines with crappy porting will need lots of timing to make ok power. |
THANKS 72c,, good info, YUP,, somethin to think about !!

Do you think the timing would change alot more, if it was pure methanol?
