HKS Twin power or ignition amp with E85

I've been reading these alternative fuel/E85 threads for a while now and have a pretty good idea on what I do and don't need to convert my 94. The only thing I cannot find however, is whether or not anyone uses an HKS Twin power or any other kind of ignition amplifier with e85. My questions are: Would any of you guys recommend using it or not? Do you even need an amp while using e85?

I know a lot of guys use them and that they work very well with the dudes who run gasoline and I was in the market for one before the government shipped my sorry ass to Afghanistan, but since I've decided to convert I'm wondering if i'll need one.

I use a twin power, have not had any problems at 550 hp. I think the twin power helps, not the ultimate solution, but should do what you need.

I'm glad to know there's someone out there using this combo. I don't understand what you mean by ultimate solution. Would it be better to use one or just go without?

Most believe the twin power is a slight upgrade from stock, as it is a multistrike not a more powerful spark. Something like 4 aftermarket coils driven by msd boxes or something similiar is along the lines of the ultimate setup. I think the twin power is better then stock and has served me well. Since I am running an aem I am probably going to switch to aem coils to take advantage of having 4 ignition channels. I will most likley have a twin power for sale shortly if your interested.

That's what I use. They have their own ignitor built in that will light anything.

I'm running an M&W ignition using Honda CBR motorcycle coil on plug coils. Spark plugs are 11.5 NGK race plugs in all 4. No issues pushing 810 to the rear wheels on E85. ECU is a Motec M84.

Excellent information fellas. I think I'm going to go with the HKS twin power because I'm looking for horsepower in the 400~500 range. I'm saving this information though, in case I want to go with the individual coils. Thanks guys.

for the price of the twin fire you could get the aem coils that have more spark out put. To me the hks is like a band aid. aem coils from ludwig are like 72 each. So less then 300.

Yeah... why not use something that is tried and proven?
If anybody wants to convert to E85, do what works! Don't try using an inferior product and expect the same results.
Tons of E85 users use the IGN-1A coils because it works!

Ok, that's what I'm looking for, recommendations. I will start reading into the AEM Ign 1a coils, see what's required to use those and then start getting my set up together. If anyone has any threads that they recommend starting at you can go ahead and post them here. I'll get to reading them as soon as my mission set allows me to do so. Thanks guys.

Could also pm Cludwig as well for them as well.

Thanks Grinch. I think that's the setup that I'm going to go with. I really appreciate it guys.
