No problem Howard... like to spread the information.
Nice numbers! |
Starting my E85 system build. Should have done this a while ago. Might be bugging Howard once I grab an Adaptronic stand alone too.

just to add some info into this thread....
34lbs is the max on E85 from what ive seen anything more than that & you will have to convert to E98 which is just as expensive as c16 & even then with E98 the most ive seen reliable is 40lbs |

I have boosted to 32 PSI with no problems. |
i think mixing in some water injection ( straight water only no meth) would work great with e85, I dont see why it wouldn't, as long as you have a strong ignition and have a good nozzle spraying pre turbo. seeing that water just supresses knock, i dont see how it could hurt, matter of fact the black FD from sweden has that setup on his car and he made 829whp at just 30psi. i'm sure he could turn up the boost another 10 lbs of so easily!

As long as you can supply enough fuel, I would say the sky is the limit on E85.

from what ive seen in puerto rico.... 3rotor yes but 40lbs of boost on a 2 rotor on e85 is way over the limit....

through my research i would say you are on the border with E85, there is no fuel that won't detonate. if you want a relatively safe level for ethanol, 30psi seems to be a reasonable point to stop and consider alternatives like water injection for more.
E85 with enough water, you could potentially run up to 50psi with a good ignition system/tune. as for microtech, even though i hate the shit out of them, they are quite reliable. i haven't retuned mine in over 5 years, nor have i even checked my AFRs in about that same amount of time. of course i probably just screwed myself and will pop the motor on the way home... granted i have seen their MAP filters quite erratic lately, cause for some of the problems people have had with them. |

Howard when do you and Luke plan to be back on the rollers? I know its got to be soon with the TX Mile right around the corner..... |
everyone who has owned a microtech knows how much of a brick they are, when i upgrade again i won't be using one even though it has served me just fine for over 8 years now.
|
over 40psi with a T6 turbo. This is first hand experience. Not researched thinking.

with crazy boost levels im assuming these are track only cars, why not get yourself a drum of E98?
|
I have felt 32 PSI and it feels gewd!
Would love to feel 40+ PSI. That's really got to feel good! Sounds like a drug huh? |
Has anybody ever messed with Ignite e85?
http://www.igniteracingfuel.com/E-85.html I will have to import e85 by the drum anyway so I figured this might be worth it. |

No doubt, don't forget to add new tires to the list lol. Get that FFE trigger wheel sucka....Sorry off topic.
Ben, Man i just cant do MT anymore. Their just isn't enough. Whether it be tuning ability, faulty units, century old software, no resolution......the list goes on. Its just an embarrassing ECU really, i cant really agree that they're reliable for anything other than rebuilds or continious upgrades to make a polished turd that much more polished..... Howard when do you and Luke plan to be back on the rollers? I know its got to be soon with the TX Mile right around the corner..... |
Hey all this has got to be one of the best e85 threads on the forum. I would like your input on choosing a fuel pump for my setup. I see many of you prefer the dual pump set ups however I'd like to stick with a single pump. I have the choice of running a sump tank or none and need a pump to support in the range of 6 to 700hp. I'm kinda leaning towards the magnafuel pump 4703 or the fuelabs 41402. What would your guys do? Or if you think I'm crazy and just think both pumps are over killed let me know before I make an expensive mistake. Thanks Rxtasy57 for such awesome thread.

Well called fuelab and the recomened the 42402 pump. I really like the idea of using their electronic regulator to slow the pump down at idle then comes back alive as fuel is needed.

Changed the oil the other day and dang did it smell like etoh. Think im getting blowby or just odor. Viscosity of the oil felt thin but im not sure. New rebuild with 500 miles
