throttle postition= airflow?
I just installed my AEM this afternoon and started messing with it. One thing I noticed that bothers me is throttle position shows up on the meter labeled 'airflow' rather than 'throttle.'
Is this normal, or does my unit have some wires crossed? I am running AEM's 1800 basemap that came with v1.19. Thanks Pat |
Well if you think about it. You controlling the throttle meaning you are actually controlling air flow to the engine. I hope that made sense.

yes but there is also a meter for 'throttle, which doesnt change with throttle position.
seems to me like 'airflow' would be a variable for an alpha-n system |
ok, fixed that, now a different problem. My ignition timing is off by more than the adjustment range of the setup variable. like by 45* or something.

How do you know it's off?

When doing the conversion from firmware V1.11 to V1.19 some options get lost. One of them being the option for the MAP analog input. It goes to none. It needs to be MAP voltage. What you will see is, as throttle is applied the Engine Load value will increase.
As for the ignition timing, make sure your timing is locked at -5 deg leading and -15 deg trailing and you need to check the timing from the #1 trailing spark plug wire. Also, make sure in your Advanced Pickups template that Cam and Crank triggers are on the Rising edge instead of the falling edge. AEM send the base cal on the falling edge. EB Turbo |
I fixed it. Gotta check the AC settings since it keeps the AC on all the time, then I will be ready to start tuning. Turbos have been acting up lately so I may just hold off on the AEM until I switch to single.

Setup > Air Conditioning > Options Min Speed > 500 Off Above > 98% you can lower if you want your A/C to kick out sooner On Delay > 0.39 Idle Load Comp > anywhere from 5-15% this will depends on what value will make your car idle at the same AFR with A/C on as off. Request Input > Switch #7 ON AC Clutch > LS6 Both Fans leave @ > Disable Setup > Advanced Setup > Analog SW In > Options SW #7 MIN RPM > 0 MIN TPS > 0 On Above > 4.98 On Below > 4.00 SW Analog In > PR Press Voltage EB Turbo |
Very good info! So, both timing marks should be measured while using only the #1 trailing spark plug wire as the signal?
Or, can you set the timing map locked at -5 leading, read the timing using #1 leading spark plug wire, then lock the timing map at -15, and use the #1 trailing spark plug wire, adjusting the timing as needed?
