Injectors and Resistor Ballast?
 

So, I'm suddenly very, very interested in this AEM computer, and researching it as much as I can.

One question that comes up is the injector drivers, and I can't seem to find a clear answer.

Does the FD need some sort of resistor placed inline with the injectors in order to work properly, or when you order the FD specific box, does it come setup properly with the resistors already?

If it doesn't, does AEM sell a "kit", or do I need to call up DigiKey? If I need to source the resistors myself, what values am I looking for?

What have you guys that already have this box up and running in your car done to get it to work?

Thanks for any info. I'd rather know exactly what I'm gonna need and get it all at once than find out I'm missing something crucial and be down for a couple days.

The FD already has a resistor pack on the car from the factory, and you need to run this with the AEM.

That's interesting. I've been getting LOTS of conflicting answers on this.

Do you know where the resistor pack is? Is it removable?

If a body wanted to run those high impedence 1600cc top flow injectors, seems like you'd just have to remove the existing resistor pack...

The AEM can use only High Impedance injectors, or Low Impedance with a resistor box.

Measure the resistance between the 2 pins on the injector to determine if they are High or Low. You don't want to run high impedance injectors with a resistor box, because this will slow he response time of the injector considerably.

All inputs and outputs of the AEM can only handle 1.5 Amps of current. Use the formula Current=Volts/resistance to determine Current draw.

I believe you have your impedance figures backwards on the 1600cc injectors. I have yet to see an injector that large that wasn't a low impedance injector.
