AEM problem HELP!!!

For some reason I can't get the ecu to communicate with my laptop. I have tried three different cables but the ecu won't come online. I was told it could be something with the harness but I don't know what. Any ideas??? Thanks guys.

Hello??

What error message is showing on the laptop screen?
BTW. Are you using an USB adaptor?

I've tried with and without a USB adapter. Also 3 different laptops. All it says is quering ecu with the red ecu offline message blinking on the bottom. Trying to figure our if there is a wiring issue with the harness somewhere but I don't know what to look for.

USB Adaptor

I tried several USB adaptors without success until purchasing the $40 USB-RS232 from Radio Shack...it actually solved the problem and enabled the link between the laptop and EMS. I really don't think that cheap USB-RS232 adaptors will work with the AEM...

I paid $50 bucks for the one and $35 for the other. I'm going to try an old laptop with just a db9 cable this weekend.

so were is the support coming from on the AEM's? I see so much info on PFC's, haltech and such but really nothing on the AEM. I am thinking about making the swap but wanted to know if the AEM can run both low and high imp. injectors? Are there base maps out there to help get started?

Just wanted to update. The problem was the ecu itself. AEM said it had a bad chip. It's good to go now.

Yeah the AEM can do both high and low imp. injectors. You may just have to wire in a resistor pack.

On the connection issue, although resolved, I have had to download different .dll files to fix some glitches with connections.

You can do some really trick stuff with AEM, real trick stuff.

you can ask a few guys who have been in my FD, it drives WAY better than stock did.
Big StreetPort w/ a 72mm turbo. idles at 800rpms, etc. I really do like this ecu a lot.
