S5 Turbo PNP Unit questions
 

Hello! Ive got a jdm S5 turbo and am seriously considering the adaptronic

It has all the features I want, and the price is excellent for a Plug n Play unit.

I just have some questions

I'm in Australia so whom do I buy from? Turblown or direct from adaptronic?

On turblown site its costs about 1300 but is 1499 on adaptronics site?

Also is there actually a S5 plug n play option?

Ive seen conflicting information on whether theres a stand alone S5 unit, or if S5 owners can just buy a S6 and modify wiring. Yet I cant find what needs to be modified, so I cant gauge whether it would be in my scope of capabilities or not?

Seems strange but if you buy from turblown I'm pretty sure he said they just mail it out from adaptronic in australia anyway.

One thing to consider when purchasing from Elliot at Turbosource he does offer a discount(50% off) for remote tuning, IIRC the S5 PNP unit is $1349 from Elliot, the support to his customers is second to none too

Wouldn't that be $1349 US dollars, which is about $2k Aussie at the moment? I assume there's some postage on top of that too.

Yeah I figured that too, I was just trying to clarify really.

On another note I've never seen someone who actually has this setup.

Anyone got first hand experience with this computer, its features, and its ease of install?

Tons of people are using these, s4, s5, USDM, JDM, etc. It's quickly becoming a forum favorite and many rotary shops are only tuning exclusively on these ECUs now.

There's nothing to install, if you can peel back the carpet, remove a handful of 10mm nuts/bolts, and unplug a harness, you're set.

The s5 unit is a true pnp with no wiring changes needed. We have 10 in stock here.

Funnily enough even though theyre made in Aus, I'm part of australias biggest fc group and almost no one is running one.

But it seems fantastic, ill be purchasing as soon as I can save enough money =)

Back, again, from the dead.

How exactly does the balancing work? The combined weight of the two rotors should equal the weight of the counterweight? Or some similar straightforward formula?

I recently had my engine rebuilt, including new to me rotors, a street port, and chips ported exhaust housings.
I took the opportunity to install an ORC carbon twin plate clutch and lightened flywheel, and bought a FEED counterweight.

After my rebuild, I looked at the engine bay, and noticed that the main pulley was wobbling. After first swapping out main pulley to make sure it wasn't just a bend, the shop pulled the engine and and checked the clutch and flywheel. Is there a possibility that this wobble (apparently 1-2mm) is because of an incorrect counterweight?

I asked a friend with a four rotor about this issue, and he said that he had come across something similar. His issue, however, was because of Mis-balanced rotors, rather than having anything (directly?) to do with the counterweight.

If a mismatched counterweight is not my problem, or cannot explain my wobbling main pulley, does anyone have any ideas of what my problem might be?
