making engine start up faster
 

So is there something programming wise to get the engine running faster? Was playing around with the trigger setting page that has the min rpm start and max crank setting but didn't seem to change. Are 13b's just doomed to crank over for like 5 seconds before starting? Just did the ffe trigger wheel upgrade and the rx8 starter upgrade.

My car actually cranks pretty quick and starts quick as well on cold starts. Does your car crank slowly? If not is it getting enough fuel in cranking map?

I need to adjust my cranking map for starts when it is warmer as I need to feather the throttle to get it to start then. I am not sure if that means it has to much fuel or not enough. lmao

So I believe that the minimum and maximum rpm range is just a reference for the ecu so it knows when you are cranking on it since there are cranking tables it refers too. With that said, there is a Power FC post that explains how to make your car start better. You'll have to play around with your cranking tables if it's having problems starting. If you have to give it throttle, it's a little too rich. Running 5 to 10 degrees advance can help too.

Under the triggering tab, in triggering settings, there is a box for "Minimum periods before generating any outputs" setting, see what that is set to. What I gather is that the ECU will need to see however many full triggering cyces before firing the coils and injectors. Mine was at 2, I changed it to 4, and it cranks slightly longer now before firing.

Was there any reason you moved it from 2 to 4?

I figure it would give me an extra split second for oil to start circulating, and for unburned fuel to clear out, etc..
