Idle with clutch switch
 

I have been running without the clutch switch since getting the car going. I have a nice idle and the fuel map looks pretty good. My VSS, vehicle speed sensor, isn't reading and I thought maybe the clutch switch might have something to do with it. I hooked it up and it didn't change anything regarding reading the vehicle speed, but it did change the idle. With the clutch switch connected it doesn't like to stay running when I first start it up and will often die when I come to a stop. Any settings in the Adaptronic Modular that might effect this?

ok a few things i noticed that may help

first your timing in your base map in the idle area is quite retarded, i would advance that out and see where that gets you.
next your idle timing trim is not advancing timing very much when the rpm is below your target.
if all that does not clear up your problem try changing your neutral timeout in closed loop idle and see where that gets you.

as a side note your fueling looks pretty rough i would try to smooth that out a bit. if you want i can give the map you posted a once over and send it back.

I would love that, but could you start with some of the timing suggestions. The fuel map is a little rough as I am just getting close to where I am happy with it as far as my AFRs being really close. Would you mind looking over the timing areas and giving me a few days on the fuel map?

yea so advance the timing out a bit in the idle areas and see where that gets you, start at 8 degrees or so and interpolate that into the cruise area. next go into your idle settings and find idle ignition trim, set -200 cell to 10-15 and interpolate that back to 0 at the 0 cell. for fueling try to make the map smoother, you should not see really sharp spikes or valleys in VE from cell to cell. i gave you map a once over and can ship it over whenever so let me know if you are interested, i did not touch everything but it should be an improvement. also make sure you get your timing offset right.

do these suggestions one at a time and see what kind of results you get. one of those may fix the problem and you may not need to play with the other but either way smooth that fueling out when you get the idle under control, and make sure the riming offset is correct.

ok so this is not to be considered safe i really just added some timing in the idle to cruise areas, smoothed out the fuel map, and changed the idle ignition trim. this may cause some idle surging if it does back off the idle ignition trim. you should be fine in cruise areas although it may not be very accurate but the boost areas may be off enough to cause damage, so keep an eye on your AFR while cruise.

I applied your timing and idle trim settings and have smoothed out the fuel a little bit. The idle is much better and I can hook up the clutch and still have the car warm up and not die every stop now. Thanks! I don't have the throttle stop dash pot any more and it will occasionally drop to 500rpm when I stop. It has only dies once so far out of a couple days driving.

very nice, glad it helped. so from here try bumping your idle recovery up a little bit. in the functions menu under overrun/ decel try bumping up the "disable fuel cut below" field a little bit and see if that helps idle recovery. you may also need to adjust the PID settings in closed loop idle but do that last.
