High VE numbers?
My FD doesn't run like other fd's around for some reason im wondering if somethings wrong or somethings weird with my ecu settings im not sure. Mine likes 90-100% just cruising and idling which seems really rich compared to the other base maps and everything ive been looking at. Some people are at like 70% at idle which mine would hate. Any ideas? Elliot from turblown told me mine just likes more fuel but im wondering if there's anything i might look at fixing if somethings wrong? Not saying youre wrong or anything elliot just making sure;) haha

Haha wow that was dumb guess it sounded like enough info in my head lol. Well its a streetported single turbo greddy t78, id1000 primaries, id2000 secondaries, aeromotive fpr, ffe fuel rails, 3" straight pipe, pettit intercooler. Ill post the ecu file when i get home

here's my ecu file, had to put it in a zip to upload. I know its probably not a very good map but im learning and im just trying to get it to drive okay until i can get a tune done. (not under boost of course) haha

IIRC I once read on this forum that if you run more timing at idle, you can run leaner. but would not pass emissions was a draw back.
See if someone chimes in and touches on this subject. |
Just to bring this up, my car with a semi p port is idleing at around 58, and cruis around 65

I don't see anything wrong with your ECU file. When you set base fuel pressure, you have the engine running, with no vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator right? And its set to 4 bar?( 43.5psi?) All of the engine sensors are working correctly and not stuck? Can you take a log and post it? What about a screen shot of the F11 page with engine idling?

I sent him my old street port setup map, that should be pretty close to what he needs. |

Correct way.
STart car. PUll FPR vacuum hose off. Set it at said 43.5 psi, PUt hose back on. Although, im thinking yours isnt far off. SOmetimes before i start my car, while pump is doing the 3-4 secs of priming, i have ran to engine bay and looked at FPR gauge and its always at 40psi where i set it. SO your FPR may not be off that bad.. |

I watched a training video not to long ago that explained how to get the numbers on the map away from the 100%VE. You add fuel to the master trim and then subtract that percentage of fuel from the entire map. This will have your number s down in the 60-70% range allowing you to make positive adjustments safely in those areas of the map where you were too close for comfort.

Hi mate, please correct me if I'm wrong but I think Austin's original concern was "why do I have 100% VE to give this x amount of fuel to idle, while others just have 70% on their VE table to give that x amount of fuel (with both maps having 0% master trim)".
Adding a value to the master fuel trim will definitely bring the VE table values down, but that just alters one part of the fuel computation. Thanks. |
If I understand correctly, having VE of 100% requires an exact amount of fuel at 1000 RPM as well as 8000rpm, however due to pumping losses it should only be 30-40% efficient at idle.
Adjusting the initial master trim will affect everything because it adds the same amount to everything. |
