Fuel Map Tuning Question

I have a basic question around tuning the Fuel map.

With the power FC, I could take a log on a given run, load the results into a spreadsheet and I had a macro that I could run against the log that would compare the logged values to the target value. It would then generate new values to paste into the map. Then it was a rinse repeat type thing until your happy with the A/F values across the entire map. It made the process more scientific than tweaking regions of the map by hand.

Is anyone able to do something similar with the Adaptronic ECU?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same question as camajo. Up to this point I have been modifying the cells one at a time. It would be awesome to find a shortcut! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking into MegaLogViewer. It seems to have some of the capabilities I was describing.

MegalogViewer and uploading Adaptronic tune

You can take one long log, load it into megalogviewer filter out all the low temp/low rpm sections or whatever you want, set the MLV up so that it is scaled the same as your fuel map, and then set it up such that the AFR and target AFR are you Z axis variables which will in turn give you a table, averaged from values in your logs, that shows how far you are off rich or lean from the target value.

You can then use that table as a guide to how you need to modify your fuel map. Contrary to popular belief the eco won't tune itself for you, and you do have to do some handwork but it really isn't too difficult. I've been able to tune a car within +/- 0.1 AFR of the target using this method. Tuning beyond that will require detailed log interpretation.

If you made a video of this, that'd be awesome. A lot of work though for people you don't know.

Hope the build is going well, I know you said you had a lot of time off and started getting work done at the pace you wanted. :) Adaptronic POWAH!

I do the same thing Skeese. There was info somewhere i just don't remember where i saw it.

I may actually do it. I continually over and over fix the same issues I find that people make when tuning a car in WARI, and operating MLV isn't rocket science. I keep hearing promises that others are going to make a 'how to tune a fuel map video' but nobody has ever delivered. I may whip up one this weekend and surprise everybody. :) Adaptronic...MEEEHHH

I actually have a full guide I wrote on this somewhere. I'll dig it up and post it or make a video and post a link. Either way I'll have one of the two available by the end of this weekend.

If you do this then you will be THE MAN. Thanks!

Dude its no big deal, I really enjoy this stuff. I typically end up chatting with people over some simple question and then bam I blink and its a month later and end up friends with this person remotely going through daily log/tune iterations until its set. Weird part is its a pretty good number of people, all of which are cool as shit. My other half definitely thinks I'm batshit crazy talking to a bunch of randoms on the internet about funny colored tables full of numbers.

Anyways I'm off tomorrow and going to update the doc I made a while back since I've learned a bit since then.

You guys should upgrade to the eugene software. It does the above automatically. I am going to write a blog post about it.

I've been keeping the people I've been tuning on wari, primarily because I never got to use eugene on my car before I tore it down and I don't feel comfortable using something on somebody else's car until I know more.

Is there a manual out for eugene yet? I honestly learned more about the adaptronic and tuning from actually reading the whole 90+ page manual than all the online banter combined.

If there is a manual, it would probably have weekly updates! Lol. Eugene seems to be undergoing routine updgrades and feature tweaks currently. (I see this as a good thing)

As far as development it is...

But it makes you wonder

A manual is planned, but as mentioned we feel its a bigger priority to have any feature working properly. In the meantime adaptronic tech can answer all the questions.

Here is a screen shot of some of the updates you guys will like;

When it changes constantly it doesn't inspire confidence.

I see it as great support. Fast response when tiny bugs are found. I have found more glitches in some of the bigger companies software, and slower responses to fix it. So Adaptronic is right in the game, with very good customer support.

And they offer a unique product line in my opinion.

camajo 12-04-16 06:37 PM

If Eugene does it then great. Sure, lots can be learned by doing, but documentation would go a long way.

Reminds me of work :/ feature creep... something always coming later, but what about NOW.

Skeese, I'd still love to see what you've been able to do with MLV.

PM me with your email and I'll shoot you a doc I made on my MLV setup a while ago. I finally found a decent computer screen recording program but due to starting a new job haven't had time to dedicate to making a video or anything much else.

I agree with the support, especially in that Mark Gool is awesome. He always came through for me and helped me track down my issues.

Opening up the beta to the public and allowing the masses to watch the development progress by default opens the software up to public speculation. That is just a fair fact, action-reaction. I just want to continue seeing results before I jump on with it.

Is this feature just for the new ECU's or does it work on our older ones also? I thought Eugene was still in "beta" haven't heard it was actually released yet for the public to actually tune with. If that's the case then i need to start plaing with it as i'm getting close to finishing my 8374 install.

Software is complete useable now. I have tuned a car on it, and I know of about 20 others also.

I have not tuned a select with eugene in months, so I will have to get back to you on what does and does not work between a select and modular using Eugene. Either way you will want to start using Eugene if you own a select.

Any word on this yet ?

So I installed an SSI4+ this weekend. (MTX-L > TC-4 > SSI-4+ > ECU) I have fuel pressure being logged to the ecu. And what do ya know the old ecu's works with Eugene. I hit (t) while the car was idling and put my cursor over that cell and up to the side on the graph it was displaying what to change the value to. Pretty HOT!
