Few Q's on the S4 PNP
 

Being sick on the couch I thought I would plug in to my PNP S4 ECU since it has a nifty option of being able to read and write based on the power supplied by the USB.

Noticed a few things
-On fuel and ignition the 3D graphical does not go above 4500rpm were the txt goes to 8000. You cannot pan around the graphic to see it better.
-Status bar shows unknown ecu connected. Figured it should say S4 PNP or something or at least identify the ecu that I am connected to. I am assuming I can name the ECU somewhere.
-The PIN out supplied on the ECU says Universal select ECU and doesn't reflect my S4 manual PIN out. (Selection open pinout for this ecu) It does look like a stock harness pinout though.
-The instant overboost setting and 1 sec overboost was set at 43psi. Not really a stock setup LOL
-engine protection features does not show up on the power cut page.
-there is no manual in the help section of the software I had to hunt for the manual in the software and it was for the universal models. Not really an issue because most of the stuff is the same.



Overall the whole plug and play bit is pretty cool. Cannot wait to try it and have a local guy tune it.

The adaptive tuning and no staging secondary is a brilliant concept. Thumbs up to adaptronic.


Figured out that to get the 3D range set to be the same as the TXT scale I just hit the RPM limit set to 8000rpm twice. Didn't save "write" it to the ECU yet.

Thank you for your enquiry. Firstly, can I ask you to please update your software and firmware to the latest release (10.127) - New Select 10.126
- The max RPM that the graph displays can be set using the drop down list just beside the graphical map (see pic attached).
- There is no setting to "name" an ECU. Let me know if this gets fixed with the firmware/software update.
- I don't think we have the S4 pin out document ready yet. But Andy's working on it so hopefully we'll have one when version 12 gets released (really soon).
- Let me check with Andy about the over boost setting - thanks for the info.
- Engine protection features will be available in version 12.
- There is only one manual for all Select ECU models e.g. e420d, e440d, plug-ins. We're working on a way to make it more obvious in version 12. We thought that putting a shortcut in the Windows Start Menu (under Adaptronic) would be obvious enough.
- Let me know if the S4's ECU ID doesn't get fixed with the 10.127 update.

If you are removing the AFM you do need to jumper the fuel pump relay found under the steering column on the S4 T2. I haven't confirmed it, but its probably the same for the S5 T2.

the fuel pump test pin ( bypasses the switch in the AFM ) is on the strut tower on the airbox side,,, a green ( sometimes yellow ) two pin plug half way up strut tower

Even better. Easier to jumper.

So I'm wondering how well this adaptronic PNP will work. It should work and run identical to the stock ecu. Will be interesting to see if it can handle the AC load as I never got that right with the haltech:)
