Convince me to ditch my P-FC for an Adaptronic...

So I currently run a P-FC. I need to purchase a new datalogit and a P-FC boost control kit. Once I shell out for them, I'm not far off from the purchase price of an Adaptronic (after I recoup selling the P-FC).

So I've watched all the videos on the Adaptronic website and read heaps of information on this forum. I just need a little push over the edge, hopefully by current users and those that have made the jump.

Here's my current setup:
- Fresh rebuild with stock ports
- 99 Spec turbos - run 'simplified' sequential
- Walbro pump / 850 primaries / 1300 secondaries in a FFE rail
- AEM ignition coils
- All unnecessary systems deleted (air pump, AWS, EGR, etc)
- Trying to convince myself to run H2O/Meth injection

In the future? I could see myself moving to an E85 setup and BW EFR IWG turbo... but nothing is set in stone. I suppose my idea is that everything will be there to make the jump, with the exception of a couple new injectors and a new fuel pump (or two).

So... who has done it? What am I overlooking? What benefits / set backs should I be ready for?

Thanks! :icon_tup:

Hi MattGold,

Elliot/Turblown has a detailed comparison between the two in this link - Adaptronic Rotary Specific ECUs - NoPistons -Mazda Rx7 & Rx8 Rotary Forum

Cheers.

That post should be a sticky over here in this forum.

This is another good article linked to in the aforementioned post:

Thanks Matt!

Maybe more important than the ECU is somebody that can tune the ECU. I'm digging the Adaptronic, but cant find anyone near that can tune it. PFC seems to be the tried and true standard

If one can tune a PFC, one can easily pickup an Adaptronic.

I completely agree with Elliot. I had a power FC and no tuning experience when I swapped to the adaptronic and thanks to the awesome support on the forum here I managed to tune my twin setup to what now holds solid AFRs across a perfect boost pattern.

I can only imagine someone with PFC tuning experience would be able to tune the adaptronic quicker and easier than a power fc given how easy VE tuning make it easy to get a basemap

Hi TomU,

If there's anything we can help you with regard to the use of the software, just shoot an email to tech@adaptronic.com.au

Thanks.
Mark

I'm making the switch from my Electromotive Tec3R to Adaptronic. New system is being installed on Wednesday. I'll post results.

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck.
