Cant get FD to idle correctly

If i start it and just let it sit there usually it will idle fine. Around 1100. Once i drive around some and it gets warm it starts like jumping up and down. Itll be at 1100 then slowly fall to like 700 then jump back up. Cant figure it out. Also what is electrical load 1, 2, and 3 under the idle box? Attaching my ecu file and log file of the idle.

Hi mate,

It jumps back when you hit 750-800 RPM because of the recovery RPM setting which is normally used as a stall saver. Can you try setting it to something lower like 400-500 RPM and maybe 5 efforts for each?

The electrical load idle efforts are used to increase the idle air coming in when the engine gets additional load. In your file (digital inputs), you have electrical load 2 for power steering and electrical load 3 for the thermofan, so you can increase the idle if you add more idle effort in those fields in the software (Idle tab).

More info about idle control can be found here by the way:

Thanks.

And by the way, it seems in your log that you're using an older version firmware with the v12 software - you can verify that in the F11 window, and if so we recommend updating to the v12 firmware as well.

where can I get the v12 firmware?

Hi mate,
You can download (and install) it from our website - https://www.adaptronic.com.au/downloads/

But you should already have it in your PC if you're using the v12 software. Here's a bit of a guide to help you in the upgrade process.

Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply but whats the thermofan? The cooling fan? Thats what my electrical load 3 is? How did you find that out? Thanks for the help!

Hi Austin,

In your ECU file, Digital Inputs tab, Input 11 is set to Electrical Load 3.
Digital Inputs 9-16 are logic only, i.e. no wires on the connectors, and if you set them as active hi then those logic inputs can be triggered by the logic only outputs (e.g. Aux 9-16) respectively. So again in your file, Aux 11 is set to "Water Temp 85/87" which means the outputs turns ON when the coolant temp rises to 87°C and turns off at 85°. Similarly, Aux 11 turns ON Aux 8 (Thermofan), because Aux 8 is OR-ed to Aux 11.

Hmm let me know if that's not clear.

Thanks
