Question Bouncing idle

I have a e440d with ida style tb. Tune is 1 unused 2 tpi. The rpm will go to 4k then drop and bounce up and down. I can see in the f11 window that all coils firing in df. Good signal from cas. But fuel and ignition safety cut keeps kicking in at 4k rpm. I turned off all safety cuts. Still does it. I waited for it to get up to operating temp. Nothing changed. Wide band goes from 13 to 20 when rpm are bouncing. I have 4 rx8 yellow injectors. I got the injector dead times off of mx5 club site. Thinking it's my dead times or I just have something set wrong.

Hi,

Can you please Send me your basemap and your log to shawn@turbosource.com and I will be glad to look at this for you. I suspect you are running into a decel fuel cut issue but lets take a look.

Cheers,

Shawn Christenson

I was able to figure out the bouncing idle problem. Before I was using a s4 base map and settings. This is first time messing with a standalone ecu. Now that I'm a little familiar with the program. I used the e440 base map and went from there. It runs really good just a little rich. Does anyone have Target afr. for a NA 13b. All I can find is turbo targets that are a little bit to rich. For what i need. I will send my log and ecu settings when I get off work.

Angry

i thought i figured it out. For one day it ran really good. Then today same ****. Bouncing idle. Only thing that was changed. i had to replace the temp sensor because the Orilley's brand one didnt work. so i replaced it with a stock s4 one i had. now i have a temp reading. i had all the fuel and ign safety cuts disabled. and the fuel cut would still kick in.

What I would do if your idle is bouncy is add fuel probably. Do you see what your AFR's are doing? I would add some fuel at those cells it is bouncing at. Shouldn't take you long to see if that corrects it. I have had the same thing happen as well when I was learning. Cells were a little lean and so caused it to do that. 4K rpm seems like a lot is this just in warm up i take it. I would check what your settings are on warm up and disable them for now as well. Take off of closed loop of course when doing this (Tuning Fuel, ignition, and air as well. Also in closed loop take the check off closed loop when stationary. All the extra effort after cranking might be good as well. Map sensor on internal map sensor? I am no expert by any means, but here are some suggestions to loop at. Also are there in vacuum leaks? This wont make the idle jump though. Maybe just on initial throttle or cause a higher idle due to more air.
