You know, it would make sense...

...if these companies that sell midpipes would include a more restrictive exhaust gasket to install along with the midpipe. If not for free, offer a few different sizes for 20 bucks each. Hell, I'd pay it for the peace of mind.

How many blown motors would this save? I have a ported wastegate and am seeing 15# in this cold weather. I can only imagine the problems those w/a stock wastegate have...

hmmm

I am trying to determine the causes of engine failure in our cars...how would that cause the engine to blow?

Midpipe + other mods leading to boost creep.

Boost creep leading to lean air:fuel mix and detonation...detonation leading to needing a new engine.

With the resistrictors, Goodfellas would be able to elinminate boost creep.

Just one more reason not to get a mid-pipe IMHO.

It's pretty simple to install an exhaust gasket.

With the midpipe you get insane 2nd turbo power, an awesome exhaust note, and (last but not least) flames!

Hey, you only live once...

I have the stock wastegate....I just tune the boost controller a little conservatively to allow for boost creep, plus the fact that 4th gear gives an extra 1/2 pound of boost....sometimes I get boost creep and other times it is negligible...this car always seems to have a mind of it's own....I swear it feels like it has an extra 50 hp some days

you have to leave a little margin for error with the stock injectors, you can't just tune it to a razor's edge, esp in cold weather

You're running a resonated midpipe, however. For those of us w/a straight through midpipe, boost creep is a much larger problem. With a stock wastegate I would've blown my motor every time I've hit the second turbo.

You're right, though...my FD seems to have a mind of it's own as well....

hey guys, I have a straight thru mid pipe & get a big spike at transition. I'm thinking of putting some sort of restriction in the pipe. What size diameter hole would you say provides the best compromise between boost control & minimum loss of power?
