yet another bov question.....

I was wondering. I have a flange welded onto my SMIC ready to accept an HKS or greddy type s bov. Can I put the bov there and close off the primary bov hose? Basically I will have my secondary bov stay in stock location and then close off the primary bov while putting in the new bov where the flange is on the IC. Can this be done?

yes. And since you're NS, you could get rid of the CRV too, as long as your BOV can vent properly w/o compressor surge.

Edit: oops, I see that NS is coming soon. But the answer to your question is still yes.

so either way seq or non-seq this setup is ok? Cause I know that when I got non-seq its ok Plus I can remove the secondary bov (aka CRV). Just a follow up yes on this would be appreciated. Thanks man.

yes :)

the end tank of the intercooler is an excellent place to mount a BOV. mounting it between the IC and throttle body disturbs the airflow.

Actually right after the TB is the best place.

Right after the TB would not work at all! I think you mean right before the TB ("before" and "after" being from the perspective of the air flowing through the system).

Jeff ,who runs Turbo Auto in Nashville ( a turbo and innercooler shop ) was ask ,where is the best place to put a BOV ? The answer from him , a person in the business for years .Put it in front of the throttle body . As close as space will allow . Your car do as you wish ,this is just information .

yeah, well my flange is welded right on the top end tank of my greddy smic on the left side while facing the car. Thanks for the information guys.

yes Max, that is what I meant. I was thinking of things in the perspective of how the air would be flowing back away from the TB. My bad.

RX7SpiritR 03-27-04 12:32 AM

yeah, when I get a FMIC I want to have it welded on the corner of the greddy elbow.

duboisr 03-27-04 03:12 AM

Rx7SpriritR -That is the perferred spot . Be sure to place it so you can get to your oil dip stick .Some one we know allmost blocked that area . My mechanic showed them the light before the welding was done .

tookwik 03-29-04 06:15 PM

do you have to weld the bov on at all? could you find a place to mount it near the tb instead?

poss 03-29-04 08:24 PM

I have looked around in the past for any conclusive evidence on the best BOV location. Didn't find anything except opinions.

IMO, place it before the IC that way you are not cooling vented air. But that's just another opinion. :)
