Yet another BOOST PROBLEM POST

Ok
This is my situation
1st can only get boost up to 5-6psi
2nd can only get boost up to 5-6psi
3rd can get full 10-12psi
4th can get full 10-12psi
5th can get full 10-12psi

Now with that problem listed above, can this be narrowed down to something specific?

Mahjik Aug 21, 2007 02:27 PM

Most likely, the Turbo Control Actuator and its associated solenoids.

Could you please point out the area of the turbo system where I can find the Turbo Control Actuator and its assosiated solenoids? diagram attached

The components are on the bottom of that picture labeled "Turbo Control". The solenoids are located under the UIM, one bolted to the ACV and the other on the solenoid rack. You can see there locations using the vacuum diagram:

do i have to remove the turbos to inspect these?

Mahjik Aug 21, 2007 04:10 PM

You don't need to remove the turbos for these checks. Start with the KOKO test described here:

http://www.fd3s.net/boost_test.html

That will at least let you know if the mechanism is working properly. If its not, then you need to test each component individually to see which one may be faulty.

Check engine light codes.. got Long flash followed by six short ones.. Im assuming this translates to engine code 16....
Looked at this website couldnt find any code for 16..??

Ok seems like this is the EGR vavlve that is causing problem.
Is the EGR valve necessary to keep in the car?>

wb123 Aug 21, 2007 05:54 PM

Ok as far as engine light codes i got 17 as well as 16...
17 Feedback system for O2 sensor where is this located on the car? and can this be fixed/disabled too?

FD3S2005 Aug 23, 2007 09:42 PM

no my primary is good my secondary seem to not want to boost 100% in first second and third but in third it clears up at higher rpms
