XS power intercooler?

Anyone got any experience or hear anything about XS power intercoolers?

They have a pretty cheap SMIC kit. I know you pay for what you get but i was considering it as a temporary solution before getting the Pettit Coolcharge III kit in a few months. Any ways here the link.

i originally bought this as a temporary solution also, the only problem is that without ducting this intercooler is crap. i forgot what my air intake temps read but i had temps of 92c for water. now i have the asp medium for 700 (used) and i get 60's and below air temp and water in the 80's. i would suggest just looking out for a used smic setup instead.

LOL...I've got one sitting on my floor right next to me. I don't have the proper pipes to get it hooked up. I sure would like to drop my temps a little though. Anything is better than that small stocker I have now. Ducting shouldn't be too hard to fabricate...I just need the pipes. :(

A friend of mine used this intercooler to do a custom v-mount for his FD. Inlet temp dropped alot and all worked fine.

Without a duct just stick with the stocker, I think one of the ebay SMICs match up with one of the pettit ducts but I cant remember what the measurements are.

if you duct properly it will work fine. i've got 1 in my v-mount setup works good

My temps dropped significantly....with guess what..no ducting. It'd be better if I wasn't lazy and made some...but V Mount time anyway

i picked up an xs smic that i will be installing soon. i did a lil research on the net, and was told that as long as you have one of the older cores with the actual xs power stamp on it, they work great. any smic without ducting is not going to work as efficient as one that is properly set up. i purchased my duct from gooroo/andrew off of the forum, he may still have some. it is made out of frp, and fits my xs power measurements perfectly.

here is a link to his for sale thread.

Good luck getting anything from Pettit... they've been giving me the run-around on buying one of their ducts since April. They're STILL on "back order"... and I suspect will remain that way for some time :icon_tdow

I did actual lab tests on a medium size XS core a couple of years ago and found that the both the flow & heat rejection properties were good--within a few percent of the best cores--which makes it a very good value. I use one on my v mount with good results. I don't care for those big cast end tanks, which are nasty to weld on though.... but at the end of the day the core works pretty damn good.
