WTF?? Broken bolt in my primary turbo exhaust housing!

Holy flurking shnit! My primary turbo seized the other day, so I went about the tasty chore of putting in a spare set of twins. I removed the exhaust housing, and there was a crusty old bolt (complete w/ crusty old washer) INSIDE THE EXHAUST HOUSING! How in the HELL did that get in there? It doesn't look like any type of exhaust bolt (too small, not heat resistant). The heat totally fragged it, and it looks like it has been in there for a long time. Freakin' weird...As if we didn't have enough to worry about with these cars. Now we have to be on the lookout for renegade hardware lurking in our mechanical bits.

Yeah,...one of these days they're gonna find my secretary in the exhaust housing too. :) (jk)

That's pretty weird for sure. I'm surprised it didn't make it's way to the Turbine Wheel and really mess things up for you.

There doesn't appear to be any damage to the turbine wheel. The bolt just wedged itself in and prevented the turbine from spinning. I had no warning, no noise, nada. Pulled out from a gas station and had zero boost along with that slightly bogged exhaust sound that equals "turbo death".
The used primary I put in seems to be working okay...for now. I'll probably find a toaster in my rotor housing next week;) .
