WTF? Battery terminals spark when reconnecting??
I just plugged up a power FC and when I go to try and reconnect the battery, the terminals spark whenever I touch the wires to them...
I can have the positive hooked up, but as soon as I go to put the negative one on it sparks everywhere, and vice versa wtf is going on?? |
If it didn't spark there would be a problem.

A little sparking should be fine. A lot of sparking and smoke/melting posts means that you either have the terminals on backwards or something is shorting along the power harness....from my experience that is...
|
Yes, I should have worded that differently. A little is fine, that just shows the circuit is being completed and is live. A lot though isn't good.

It's a lot... it's almost welding the cable to the terminal if I hold it there long enough
What could be shorting and how do I find it/fix it? this sucks.. |
you have a draw on the system, that is what's causing the sparking.

thanks for the help guys, I went back and combed over all the wires and apparently one was grounded in the wrong place, and luckily that fixed it... I was beginning to panic too...
Unfortunately I have a new problem now, if anyone could take a look https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...40#post8759740 |
You were a bit lucky...
Glad you didn't ruin anything - always a possibility when you have a short.
