Black Cat could probably hook you up with that. Or you could just try putting in blue LEDs. I was also wondering about switching the odometer, but to white. I doubt that will happen though.

just thought i would share my experience/results.

i had a bouncy tach (bad solder connections) so i removed the cluster to re-solder the connections. while i had it out, i decided to do this hyperwhite mod.

i tried using goo-gone at first (or goof-off, whatever it's called) but it didn't work very well. instead i used some "paint-safe adhesive remover". worked great! the red coloring came right off leaving the clear white plastic.

unfortunately i dont have the LED's yet so i'm still using the stock bulbs, but it already looks much better than stock IMO.

here's a pic.

Thomas, you are the man

We miss you up here in the great white NE, come home soon for some snuggling . I'm rolling down to Wilmington DE to chill with Scrubby Scrub, we shall miss ya

I got some LEDs for my new 2002 cluster, you can order from www.SuperBrightLEDs.com.

You'll need four of the WLED-CWHP6 (194/168 wedge base), 6 white high power LED. These go in the four brown plugs.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b.../wled-whp6.htm

You'll also need one of the 74-WHP3 (mini wedge base), 3 white high power LED. This goes in the blue plug which is located by the fuel level gauge.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b.../specs/74.html

I'll have them installed soon and will post pixxors in my build thread

The links are much appreciated. I remember when I was looking for LEDs for my 93 cluster, it took me a while to find them (n00b). I actually wanted to use the white LEDs from my 93 cluster on my spirit r cluster but decided against it at the last minute. I'd really like to see what white on white looks like.

Here is my thread from back when I was looking for bright LEDs. I finished messing with it a couple months ago. I used Hyperite's writeup to sand the color off a few years ago. It just took me a while to find some lights that would be even enough across the gauge faces.

https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/bright-dash-lights-544692/

Here are a couple pics of what it looks like now though...

Just the LEDs alone didn't work for me. I ended up running a rope of LEDs behind each face. It's not really much more work than just swapping the lights, but some folks might not be up for it haha.

here are my results.

i used rubber cement to line the inside of the gauge housing with aluminum foil. i figured it would help reflect light back up at the gauges. i also added a few extra led's to kill the dark spots. i have more pics, which ill post later, but i've also attached a picture showing one of the extra led's i added (behind the top/center of the gauge)

cheers!

ok so i finally found my other pics that show all the extra LED's I added.

it's kinda shitty quality (camera phone) but you get the idea.

oh and fyi - the dimmer still works on everything as it should. if you hook up power/ground to different locations the extra LED's might not dim using the dimmer switch thingy on the dash.

i actually still need to add 1 more led on mine (behind where it says UNLEADED FUEL ONLY on the speedo) but when i was doing this i lost one of the LED's. just found it, so next time i'm with my car (before deal's gap?) i'll add the last LED then.

rich i can still fix yours if you want. i can have the hood off, out, and the gauges removed in under 3 minutes.

...oh and I think my next LED project will be to figure out how to swap the green LED's on the PFC Commander. Red would be a hell of a lot better...

i remember replacing the green led's on my shitty nokia cell phone back in the day...i bet the PFC screen illuminates the same way.

Great post theorie whats the impedance of the resistors you used, and do you just have to use one for all the LEDs wired in series? also did you just go to radio shack and buy some LEDs or you have a plcae you can buy cheaper?

i got the plug & play LED's from:
http://www.superbrightleds.com

the individual led's i got from ebay (i bought a bunch of white led's in bulk awhile back for a different project.

as far as the resistor, i forget. looking at the attached photo it looks like: GOLD RED VIOLET YELLOW (4.7 Kohms, +/-5%) - does that sound right?

http://www.dannyg.com/examples/res2/resistor.htm
