Wrecked

hmm well I wrecked my 93 because of freezing rain and not having a front wheel drive car at the time. I'm going guess 4 or 5 to fix her (and my x wife canceled my full coverage a week b4 the wreck with out telling me...). going to do a head light conversion and wide body kit along with street porting the motor and sticking that gt40r on her finally. I'll have pics up soon. Also I'll put this in the for sale threads but if anyone is looking for the twins off of her or stock parts let me know. I am throwing about 15k worth of parts on her (that i have had for a year but since i just got a divorce and quit my job / moved i have time for her) so i'll have a lot of stock parts left over if anyone is looking just shoot me a pm and i'll let you know if i am swapping it or not :)

The damage its self is not to bad I played tag with some guard rails. Driver side quarter panels need replaced and the medal right behind the headlights needs to be pulled. Hit a sheet of ice shot sideways and lifted the guard rail right out of the ground and it bounced off of my windshield :( now I have a beater dodge advenger that i can beat up while i rebuild her and try to do something with my gen 2

MOBEONER 03-29-09 08:38 AM

thats sucks. I am paranoid every time i drive my FD because of fear or crashing it or some one crashing into me. I don't even enjoy it some time. I hope you get her fixed.

bajaman 03-29-09 08:45 AM

Sorry to hear that man.....
These cars are NOT good in slick stuff at all...but as you didn't have a choice....sigh, it just sucks.
At least you have a good attitude and plan on being able to fix it.

1QWIK7 03-29-09 08:57 AM

Another reason why i laugh when people daily drive their cars.

When you get all types of climates, why do it? Just to say i can dd my FD??

You cant win over mother nature, you can only try to fight it. That means get a daily driver.

oo7arkman 03-29-09 10:13 AM

That really sucks to hear. Glad to know that you are using the opportunity wisely and definately to your advantage.

I know, weather can just come out of nowhere too... It was 80degrees here the other day. And yesterday..... 6inches of snow. ridiculous....

prrex4ever 03-29-09 10:50 AM

Sorry to hear about your accident, at least your ok but I feel your pain. Cars are replaceable but it still hurts to see your pride and joy mangled up. Good luck with your rebuilt.

dawicka2 03-29-09 11:35 PM

Yeah, that really sucks. I unintentionally took mine off-roading last winter. I couldnt focus on anything until i fixed it.

Your car will be 10x more serious whe it is finished (judging by your plans).

Good luck with the re-build.

well thank you for holding back and yes I have learned to buy a front wheel drive for winter and keep my baby clean and in the garage for the most part lol. sucks having your fav car in the world and you are afraid of hurting it

rx7rcer09 04-05-09 07:51 PM

hey at least your ok. hopefully you get it fixed and back on the road soon not enough 7's out there

MX3 04-05-09 10:21 PM

First and Foremost. Glad to read that you are okay.

We value our FDs but they are nothing compared to us living breathing beings.

Every time I drive my rx-7 I worry about someone hitting me. Especially somone running a red light and doing a T-Bone.

Another big worry is someone hitting me from behind.

What are the stats about the force the FDs can take if rear ended?

There was a new item this past week that some lady was texting while driving and she rear ended and killed a lady. She was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

It's stuff like that that terrifies me.

Again, I'm happy to know that you are okay.

Look around they web. There are tons of places that sell FD items at a resonable prices.

I spend a good bit of time doing research on rx-7s.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is your a-pillar kinked? It looks like it is, but it may be the picture.

ANYWHO: Good luck. Valuable lesson learned the hard way. Hope it all goes as planned and we don't see a "wrecked my FD, parting it out" thread.

GoodfellaFD3S 04-05-09 10:35 PM

I'm not sure that FD is fixable man. Looks to be some serious damage......

its pushed in a little bit but the rivets on the inside are not messed up so its able to be pulled and still be as strong as it was b4

its able to be fixed :) the frame is not bent anywhere. I've had 2 people that i know that work at body shops and they both tell me its just cosmetic damage that can be fixed, frames not bet, engine still in perfect condition (I drove it home, no problems at all). Thanks for the reply's and support

I don't understand how you can afford to spend all that money fixing your car, but you can't afford to buy a car to drive in bad weather.

Or lack of driving skill.

I already have 90% of the parts it just time that i needed to put them on and never had. and for the other 10% of the parts and repairs I don't have the money for but I am saving and someone is looking to buy my fd since i never drive it anyways and the only reason i bought it was because my x wife wanted it (biggest mistake ever)

EDIT: and i have a dd now (dodge advenger(sp?)) thats what i spent my money on instead of fixing her asap.

hmmmm well i would like to see you slide across a hundred yard sheet of ice sideways and see how you pull it off. when you do that while going around a turn then let me know and i'll take some pointers. otherwise stfu because you were not there and have no idea

If you knew how to handle your car you would never be going fast enough to slide sideways through a turn in bad weather. I called you out on it because if you look at the very first thing you wrote was blaming the accident on the car you where in, not your own error. Cars dont just loose controle, the people driving them do.

no, i blame the weather for my wreck. yes i was driving and yes i lost control but you call that bad driving when there was nothing that i could of done except not of been out in that weather. a mining company right beside the turn i was on had flooded the road by accident because they did not have proper drainage and the road froze over. i was doing 25 mph but that does not matter when you hit a solid sheet of ice going around a turn. so you can call it what ever you want but when i see you pull that off then i might pay attention to you. if you feel like being an ass then go start your own threat flaming people and get out of mine

1- Sure, that must be the only reason.:hahaha:2- Loosing controle, not being able to get the car back, blaming the weather for what your own two hands and feet where doing...* Ide say you hit the nail on the head champ.

kustomizingkid 04-07-09 04:48 PM

I just don't understand how so many FD owners wreck there stuff in slightly poor weather....

1QWIK7 04-07-09 06:07 PM

^^What i wanna know is how do you lose control in freezing weather when he havent had SNOW NOR ICY RAIN this past 4-5 weeks?? lol

He's from the same area as me, maybe we're missing another side to this story?? lol

Either way, i hope you get it fixed.

badddrx7 04-07-09 07:41 PM

Turbo charged FD.....Lightweight body.....rear wheel drive..... + the urge to go divided by Ice/Snow = Wreck

Later

kustomizingkid 04-08-09 09:29 AM

Lol.... So the FD demands driving faster than conditions will allow?
