word of caution, engine torque brace!!!!

was in the engine bay taking things apart checking things over and came across something with my ETB(engine torque brace). the Al metal piece that connects the ETB to the block is extremely fragile. i looked at mine and it is bending really bad. it used to be flat and now it has a nice curve in it. within time i have a feeling this would have just bent to the point of snapping or causing some sort of damage. i dont have any pics as i would show them to you but i hope this short warning in advance is enough to just give a heads up. be prepared and possibly think about making something out of a stonger metal. this could also just be my car since i know one of my motor mounts is shot. please take a look at your ETB and reply back.

Deserves Further Investigation

If your engine torque brace is bending it might be worth your effort to investigate the reason(s) why. I have seen others report the shortcomings of their torque brace only to discover the real cause was failure of a motor mount.

My torque brace is made of rather hefty material. I have a hard time believing it could bend under the normal forces exerted by the engine.

Do people have the same problems with the Engine Shock Brace as well (The one with a shock, instead of a solid bar)?

Garfinkles braces have both end brackets made from 3/8 thick steel . The link is 1/2 inch solid stock with rubber bushings on each end . Can you bend the 3/8 inch steel brackets,, I think not .Good design , good price ,good service .Very good price for those who did not bother to pay for the product .
