Window Regulator Problem

Everytime I try to put my drivers side window up it goes up bent. I then have to pull it back to straighten it and then it goes up fine. I searched but it seems that no one else has ever had this problem!

Any ideas? I checked the tracks, greased them, but it looks like I might need a new regulator? Anyone else had this problem?

My windows does the same thing! I'd love to know why!

Sounds like the regulator to me. I'd swap it out before you end of killing the window motor too from the added effort its got to put in.

How much for a new regulator do you think?

Actually, I doubt it's the regulator. The regulator is VERY simple, it just pulls the window up and down from the center of the window.

There are 2 10mm bolts that hold the window to the regulator - you can loosen them and re-adjust the window, it may be cocked to one side or the other. Or, something may be goofed up with the tracks on the side that the window travels on - either there's something damaged with the tracks or something in them.

If you take the door panel off and mess with it, you should be able to figure it out. The power windows are fortunately VERY basic on the FD, that's why they rarely go out :).

I'd start with your glass guides. Dirt could be accumulating in them and they need to be lubricated. Spray (lightly) some silicone spray down each guide to lube up the pathway - see if that helps

Anthony, I'd go ahead and check these bolts. If one of them came loose the window will get "caught" on the track. Check the bolts on the motor itself. i had a car with only 1 last bolt loosely holding it in place and althought it went up and down it clunked and there was a lot of play in it. The missing bolts fell out once I removed the door pannel.

I do that when I'm at the track, it's when I'm at the ordering window at mcdonalds that I need my window to go down and up! :)

I'll check the bolts first, I hate taking the panels off. Thanks for the responses guys.
