Window Problem
 

When I lower the window on the drivers side, it goes down real slow. What happens is that the rubber on the inside that contacts the window starts getting pulled in and down. Is there some kind of mineral oil or something that I can put on it that will not streak the window and in effect "re-lubricate" the rubber. It is not torn and looks in great shape, not faded or cracking, just seems like it is "dry" and sticks to the window. No problem going up, for obvious reasons.

Mine does the exact opposite of yours. I've gotten used to it by now.

Try some Armor All or WD40 on the rubber. Maybe that'll work. Any oil will streak a bit but if you wipe it off often, that should go away eventually. The window track can use some lubrication as well.

I would use silicone spray lube, rather than petroleum-based sprays like WD and armor all, which wear off real quickly. Silicone makes it slick as hell, it's clear, wipes off easily, dries quickly and completely, and won't smear the glass when fully dry.

Thanks guys, I knew there had to be something. I didnt' want to use anything petroleum based as that would eat the rubber, but I have looked high and low (kmart, target, auto parts stores, hardware stores) and can't find the silicone based stuff. any ideas where to look? Perhaps I am looking in the wrong places.

Hmmm... It's just called Silicone Spray or Lubricant, and available at all auto parts/hardware stores. Gumout makes one, and Mazda dealers sell 12.5 oz aerosol cans as well.

Be sure NOT to get Silicone Adhesive or Sealant(monkey-snot).

Thanks Toadman, I will look for the Gumout, at least I recognize the name. I would hate to buy the mazda one as I would probably never use 12.5 oz and I am sure it would be a bit more expensive. I'll go by a big auto parts place in LA when I am down there this weekend for the Apexi open house in Orange :D
