Will mod'd intake, DP, stock cat and CB kill with stock ECU?
Hi all
First of all: I DID use the "Search" button. As noobie I'm kinda sensitive to that subject :D I just didn't happen to find that one combo (not for brands, but for function!) I am running on my car. This is ARC intake (for those not knowing: the M2 type closed aluminum box), HKS DP, stock cat and RB Dual sort of CB with stock ECU. Sort of because I bet nobody knows a brand called "Remus" over here. Basically it's a European manufacturer for CBs which are not too illegal because most of European countries need a kind of certificate to make them pass. But of course they flow better than stock parts. I like the idea of keeping the car quite stock, means running on stock ECU with Twins to have a solid reliability. On the dyno it made 262hp on rear wheels with stock airbox, compared to the 241hp on stock European version. Don't know improvement with ARC box though, just came from installing it. So: Will this combo be killing my engine in long-term use with stock ECU? Or is it safe as long as I don't touch the boost limit given by the stock ECU? Any kind of input appreciated. cheers Patrick |

don't go over 10psi, and you'll be fine.

thanks for that insight speedking.
with correct tuning though, a fully programable unit (ie haltech motec or power fc) will give you bigger numbers for your given mods |

Is it a full bolt on cat back? Or is it custom? I had a Remus on my Vr6 Jetta and LOVED it. The sound was incredible! And the look was very nice. Dual 4" square tips.. Any pics of yours? I'd LOVE to know if it's available. :) |
Yeah I would like to see a pick of the remus CB. My friend had one on his Bimmer and it sounded nice, but I really have only seen it on VW's and BMW's.

Hi all
Thanx for your comments and the URL. Nice to be on the safe side. @kundo, jdhuegel1 I will post some pics of my car with new wheels as soon as I get them (this week). I may take a separate pic of the CB. The Remus CB is a bolt-on and is still available (here in Europe, don't know about US). It is about 640$ without shipping, so it's rather expensive. But indeed, it sounds VERY nice and it sets you apart somewhat from the big RB Dual crowd :D so long Patrick |
