Will Mazda still produce the 3rd gen?
I know that the RX-8 is coming very soon and I really don't like the way the car looks. I prefer the RX-7 and from what I've heard, the 7 is better for cornering.
Basically, I became very worried that Mazda would stop producing these cars before I had the chamce to get my hands on one. Does anybody know if the RX-7 will live on, or is it being pushed out because of the RX-8? |
2002 will be the last year from the way things look :(

Final Fantasy VII rocks! :D
But in the U.S. the rx 7 was stopped in '95, in Japan it was made in later years but I'm not sure if they are made yearly. I know there was a '96, '97, and a '99 in Japan. Not sure about 98, 00, 01 |
YEP this year is the last. www.rotarynews.com

but that says the last "limited edition"
isn't it a special tuner edition like the efini RX-7s? Or is that really the Last one? the article doesn't really imply either. If mazda keeps making them by-yearly or whatever, then there are still more to come. Damn, I'm soo confused!! |

Exactly neo_omega. what I meant to say. If you read the entire article, it says production ceases in August 2002. At least I thought it did.

Mazda envisions the production of the current RX-7 model (FD-3S) to come to an end in August 2002.
This was the quote from Rotary News. Remember, this is the 3rd generation model is going to come to an end, not the RX-7. I have heard rumors of a 4th generation coming out in 2004 for US and Japan markets. No confirmation of it though. It does seem that this would make sense with the release of the RX-8 in America. 4th gen
hmmm...
if indeed they release a 4th gen I hop they keep the same or similar styling to the 3rd gen. I love that completely smooth body, and the front end of the car looks very distinct. If it were a drastic change (like from the 2nd to 3rd or the 1st to 2nd) I would be dissapointed. maybe I should just look into restoring a used third gen when I finally purchase an RX-7. |

the RX8 has 4 doors, and is a 4 seater, that detracts big time IMO, it is no FD for sure

I don't think......I Know!!!!!
For me its a coming....the 4th gen I mean. I have this gut feeling about it like none I've ever felt before...LOL..I think its a sure thing, just a ? of when. Mazda spent much time and effort on the 3rd gen and I'm sure they won't let us down. My wish is for a pure sports car somewhat like the 3rd gen except to compete with the big dogs (Viper, Porsche, ect) with beautiful lines and curves that rival most exotics. A four rotor 450BHP N/A Renesis engine and a $50-60'000 price tag. That would kick some serious ass!!!!! :1party:
