Will I be able to fit?

I was just wondering if I would be able to fit in an FD...I'm about 6'0 and 205 lbs. My friend had an FD, and said he was going to take me for a ride, but he totalled his car street racing, so...... I am planning to buy a car sometime around christmas 2002 and it's time to start researching. I'm torn between an FD and an MR2, though favoring the Rex because the slightly better looks, and the more hp availible. That rotary sure does scare me though.:( Thanks for any help

You'll fit

You'll fit fine. I am 6'1" and 210 and fit okay, though I elected for a car with no sunroof so my head didn't rub the roof....an annoying feeling!

Er......"slightly better looks"'....? :D

I'm 6' at 250lbs and I fit :p, and comfortably, too.

Problem is with a helmet, you may rub the roof, though.

I'm 6'5" 192lbs and I fit... tight on the headroom... don't have a clue what it would be like w/ a helmet :(

I'm 5' 11.5" and my head touches in normal driving position in my Touring with sunroof. I have to recline slightly. Most of my hieght isabove the waist.

That is me exactly. And I can't drive worth a crap with a helmet on. Auto-X just isn't for us tall guys with rx7's.

6'4" and I fit fine with no sunroof. I learned early when shopping I had to rule out any Rex with a sunroof.

When autoxing I have to hunch down in the seat a little to keep my helmet from doing a Harry and the Hendersons to the roof. I drive with my seat fully upright, I know a lot of people lay back so they look "cool":p

I'll go ahead and tell you now... you won't fit with a helmet. :p

I just went down and test fitted myself in the car with a helmet on (I'm 6'5" too) - I could get it, but the helmet was pretty firmly on the roof. If either of us had an R1/2 w/o a sunroof, it might be a different story.

I'm 6'2" and fit fine, it's a squeeze, but I can still be comfortable. I can't say the same for an NSX though.

It really depends on where your height is distributed. I can't wear a helmet in the car without hitting the ceiling. But I have the touring, with sunroof, as well... I wish the sunroof were just a little bigger so I could just stick my head out of it. :)

Yeah, why the eff is that? The NSX is lower than the RX7, but feels much nicer & more roomy.... not only that, but the firewall is right behind the seat, so you'd think there would be less room to move the seat back. hmmm...

damn Mazda for not doing their homework on iteriors.

EunosFD 11-08-01 11:28 PM

I'm 6'4" as well...250lbs....I fit just fine in my touring...but just barely fit that is. The MR2's that I test drove while looking at cars during the time I bought my FD didn't feel quite as roomy, but then again they're a bit smaller car as well. You'll fit just fine in a 3rd gen though.

93 w/ sunroof.

I'm 6'0". My head hits the roof and my legs hit the steering wheel. Heel/ toe is a bitch. Using a helmet is uncomfortable.

I was planning to install a Sparco Pro 2000 seat but I saw something better at the SEMA show last week. From what I found out, Sparco is coming out with a new seat. It looks similar to the Torino but a tad narrower and (without the knobs on the side) which you would have to remove in a FD3. The only problem is that the rep who's name I won't mention wouldn't give me a name or a time for the release date. "What else is new."

As an answer to your question, yes you will fit. Will modifications be needed? that depends on your body shape. I am making my car fit me because in my opinion the FD3 is the best bang for the buck PERIOD.

Oh and yes I would love to have a Z06 But at $50,000 + I am Too poor. Besides, By my callculations I'll have about $33,000 in mine after paint not incuding wheels. I WILL SMOKE A STOCK Z06 VET AND MOST OTHER CARS FOR THAT MATTER STRAIT LINE, ROAD COURSE WHAT EVER. I CAN'T WAIT.

Thanks a lot for all the replies. It was just a concern of mine. About the slightly better looks......well I have much love for the 2, as it is a mid engined sports car, and I think the design is pretty sleek, well at least the mkII's (though like I said earlier, the FD is better looking) though it can be at sometimes, from a far, confused for a probe....:D sorry all the mr2 owners, I still love the car
