Widefoot racing rx7 pedal extender
 

Hey guys,

For those who don't know about these pedals (Im sure the majority of us do) these are an easy way to make heel-toeing feasible for us.

I've known about these pedals for a long time but I always read that they were discontinued. Not so my friends! You can still order these babies now and they are pretty damn cheap.

From David Breslau...

I was going to describe how they help but I think the pictures explain themselves.

Thanks for your purchase of the Widefoot!

Please take some time to get used to the new pedal
action, and make sure you don't let your foot get caught
between the gas and brake pedals. You can adjust the
height of the gas pedal (if needed) to make heel and
toeing (H&T) easier.

Please tell anyone else who may drive your car of the
existence of the Widefoot, so they won't inadvertently get
the gas as well as brake pedals when stopping the car.

H&T on the street is different than on the track, because
of the greater force you'll put on the brake, and therefore
the further the brake pedal will move. Do some hard stops
in a safe area before you try H&T on the track.

Please call me if you have any questions, and I would
appreciate any feedback as to design/ease of use of the
adapters.

I can vouche for these items too. In fact I just bought the item last week for a great price along with his sway bar mounts too. Great guy, great service, and amazing products. It takes some getting use to with the gap between the brake and gas pedal shrinking, but I love it!

which pedal is which? heel swing/foot roll?
i assume the first picture is the 2 styles and the shorter one is duplicated?

The heel swing is the larger one that is extended down farther (the one I bought) and the smaller one is for the foot roll.

I bought 2 of the large ones. One is for my next FD but due to the economy it looks like this may be on hold :(.

any body got a good link on teaching this technique? never heard of the heel swing or foot roll... is it similar to heel toe?

heel swing: ball of foot remains on brake pedal, heel swings over to blip the throttle

foot roll: ball of foot is toward right edge of brake pedal. For me, my big toe is just to the right of the middle of the pedal, and I roll my foot over the edge to blip the throttle.

What ever works for you. I find the heel swing too difficult, so I use the foot roll.
(can't get my heel over the gas pedal)

Yes :), I have his widefoot extender too, VERY well built and a fine upgrade!

This is a great product, I have the large one and do the foot roll as well.

Heh - not *quite* that fast, all the carrier pigeons are asleep here on the East Coast. And
besides, I'm trying to tempt Parid into getting a set of Mounts too. ;) I'll send the tracking

The foot roll is as jkstill describes: you leave the left side of your right foot on the brake pedal,
then roll the foot over the brake pedal edge (making sure you maintain a constant braking force),
and stab the gas pedal to kick the engine RPM up enough to match the new gear ratio needed
by the transmission as you shift to a lower gear.

In the video, listen to the sound of the engine, but in a car you'll also be feeling for the "jerk"
(or lack of it) that let's you know if you got the increase in RPM correct. A perfect downshift
means almost no mismatch, so no extra load is put into the rear tire contact patch.

Conversely, a bad downshift can disrupt the rear tires (or front, in a front drive car) due to
the extra "braking" effect of forcing the engine RPM up OR down. So be very careful when
practicing, as you can lose traction on the drive wheels, especially under heavy braking.
This can be serious if you're already committed to a corner (hence the "CYA" doc I include
with the confirmation emails...).

Thanks for the kind words! A happy customer is the best advertising, which reminds me,
one of these days I'll get a website up (how long have I been saying that now??).

Seriously, I'm glad you like the adapter. It's where the "Widefoot" name comes from,
and I've been making them since around 1997. There's probably some of the old
small adapters still out there that have bends rather than the smooth contour I changed
to a long time back.

Glad I could help Supernaut ;) David's been around for a looooong time and for some reason, people seem to have the misconception that he is no longer making pedals and sway bar mounts. Great product and great seller!!! I currently have his Sway Bar Mounts with bronze bushings and a both versions of his pedals. Sway bar mounts are a great design that replace the horrible stock mounts that are very prone to bending, cracking, and/or breaking. Top Notch stuff and communication has always been excellent.
