It's a race car, if he makes contact with another car and damages a rear overfender then he has the ability to change it without much problem. Having it molded would make this more difficult. I like how they look unmolded personally.

Stoptech in front (with custom piston sizes), and RacingBrake setup in the rear.
Keep in mind I have a dual MC setup with balance bar, no longer have the stock power assist system or the stock ABS/proportioning valve system.

I'll post a full thread on my setup soon.

>>Also, could you please let me know what single setup you use and what hp you are at and what PSI (on the track setup)?

Is running that wide of a tire a big benefit over the "smaller " tire you had?
I don´t know lot of people gaining from going that wide in the rear (for a track car).
Most say that is too wide.
285 all around would be better.....
I would be VERY intersted to hear your thoughts on that, as I need to decide now if I go that wide, too.
Thanks a lot for your help !!

Damian, I was able to see you at Nationals at Mid Ohio this year and I must say that the car looked and ran GREAT. I've been waiting for you to get those videos up....so hurry up..haha.

BTW the run group that your class is in with NASA is absolutely nuts to watch.

TITO2 11-28-07 02:41 PM

Any back pic's of your FD Damian? Look's nice.:icon_tup:

I was 2 seconds faster than my previous fastest qualifying time at MAM. Now its hard to say if that was all from added rear grip as I also moved to a 500R turbo and that may have helped as well, I was not running more power or boost, just had a bit more usable power.

(yes, i will make another thread on the 500r later ..hehehe)

>>Did you ever get rear picture of this car?
>>I saw some sweet "custom" work on the rear at MAM, not sure if he wants to post that up

haha...yea i got some rear pics but the harsh sunlite makes it hard to actual y see the goods down there:

A big weekness in the car was the rear grip on turn exit. The cars turn in is just silly good, but the exit had to be babied a bit, so adding the rear tire gave a bit more rear grip on turn exits... more grip on turn exits = faster exits = faster lap times. Keep in mind im talking about racing rubber where you have to account for adheasive grip rather than distortion grip, like a street tire.

yeah nationals was a blast!!! the front running cars in my group are just silly, but I know I can reach the podium with a few changes. The biggest wekness on teh car right now is the stock trransmission, not in terms of strength, but in terms of performance. All these guys are running full on road racing transmissions or gear sets, and I NEED to have a road racing ratio setup in order to compete at the national level....and I will :-)

..now I just need to find a affordable dog box setup :-)

I have a great video that I will finish sometime from nationals, the frotn runners took off but I had a great run of laps with a few cars, was too much fun. With a decent gearbox I will be ready to chase the front runners down :-)

We already did some math, well GooRoo does the math, I just ask the questions, and based on gear ratios and my GPS data from mid-O nationals, a proper gearbox would have put me right up with the front runners, and that does not include a lot of time I can save per lap just by gettin more experience at that track. I know with no changes to the car, I still have seconds to drop off my best lap time there so far, there are a handful of spots that I needed to cleanup :-)

Or you can get a G-Force T5 dogbox for about $2.5k and there's T5 to Mazda bellhousing adapters available from the Rotary Shack and others.

DigDug 11-28-07 03:34 PM

damian, you still running the JICs? And what spring rates? Also, what bars are you running?

RX007CYM 11-28-07 07:34 PM

Damian runs 14kg/12kg on his track car.
