Anybody interested in one of these units? Most likely retail would be about $950-999, but better on a group buy.. Why don't youdo the OZ DIY wideband? Is is MUCH cheaper.

They list a honda part number. I thought you could get it at any parts house like NAPA.

I have one coming in on the next container, and will do some testing and update with more details later.
From what I could find out, it is the Non-data logging, Non-PC interface version of the industry standard wideband A/F meter in Japan. Its merely a display. It accepts either an 0-1v sensor, or an 0-5v sensor (Much preferred). I imagine the sensor is one of the better ones, as a replacement unit is $500!!. The display can be either blue or red numerals I just wondered if anyone was interested, or how many people we had that needed a wideband, doesn't seem like many are at that stage to need one on board. It'd be an ideal unit for a small dyno shop though... |
No dataloging? It has little value for tuning, or in a dyno shop.
But it would add some pretty lights in he cockpit and make the girls swoon more. |

There are some circuit boards floating around still, but the last group purchase was a while ago. They work very well, and do exactly as a professional unit does. Get a datalogger from windaq for $13, (yes thirteen dollars), it will allow you to log for channels in live time at a very high sample rate, higher than you need. Datalog and tune for cheap and accurately. All it takes is some work but I have more time than $$$ thesaint |
Well, as I said, with no datalogging it merely functions as a display. But true datalogging of the o2 circuit alone wont help much without a cross reference to manifold pressure, throttle position, rpm, fuel pressure, air temp, etc. Lambda alone is not how you tune a vehicle. Not to mention that the PC interfaced one, the software is in Japanese so it would not be of much use to most of us here, if we could even run it! It will allow a much more accurate real-time readout than the autometer A/F gauges I see a lot of people getting. Plus if you have the need for an on-board wideband, its a lot cheaper than the Motec unit, which is the only thing I can find comparable.

I checked all distribution for the wideband O2. They are in no supply. Nothing.. None in NAPA, None in PartsBin. Honda has it for over $300. Another local store has it for over $600. This is not cheap stuff. Basically an expensive sensor that you are going to barbecue in the exhaust gas. reza |

They changed the box (ie supply a box), and a cable as well. I got mine for $13, but had to make a box for it, (a nice little black plastic one), and use an old mouse cable for it. The Saint is spot on about these little units. The unit, serial cable, software, manuals, and even a screwwdriver to tighten the barrier connectors are supplied for the $24.95 plus shipping. For the price they cannot be beaten and allow for 4 inputs. The sample rate is 240/sec and although not a lab grade datalogger, it is everything you would need it to be. The 79 page manual is well written and easy to understand. If you need handholding, there is a multimedia tutorial included. You pick the inputs and then you simply use the conversion factors to have the logger output in volts, pressure, temperature, rpm whatever. True you need a laptop to use the unit, but you need a laptop to log most any outputs anyway. For the money, a DIY-WB with a used NTK 1LH1 sensor from a 92-95 Honda Civic hatchback with a VTEC motor and one of DataQ's little starter units, you are well on the way to getting some serious information to make tuning a standalone ecu possible. Start scavaging the salvage yards and the Honda online groups (That's where I got my test unit cheap). For $30 including shipping----Hell you spend more than that on neon windshield wiper nozzles!!!!!! :D As for those of you looking for new sensors, keep calling and checking Napa, Partsbin, etc online every day. These things go within hours of arriving at the warehouses and should sell for around $122 + Shipping. Good luck |
