Why so many 93's for sale and so little 94-95's ???
 

I'm in the market for an FD and noticed an overwhelming number of 93's for sale but not that many 94's and hardly ever any 95's...anyone have any insight into this? Is it because 93s had more problems than 94-95? Or is it just because the owners of the 94-95 cars are unwilling to let go of their cars?

Much less of them made and sold in the US in succeeding years. Do a search on production numbers.

ENTIRE 1993 YEAR TOTAL -----------------------------> 9,976

ENTIRE 1994 YEAR TOTAL -----------------------------> 3,403

ENTIRE 1995 YEAR TOTAL -------------------------------> 500

That should pretty well explain it right there.

I might add that on the later models Mazda did fix some minor problem spots often experinced by owners of the eariler years, but the basic car remained identical.

The changes were mostly things like the quality of interior paint, radiator cooling-fan control circuit, R134a for the A/C, etc. Because of this some would say that at the limit a '94 is a little bit better than a '93, and the '95 a little bit better than the '94.

First reason is obviously due to the higher production numbers. Second reason is because the later model cars ARE more desireable, generally speaking, and thus not sold too often.
Or so it seems to me.

wow I had no idea only 500 of the 95 models were imported into the US...I don't even consider 9,976 for 93s a lot in terms of production...FDs are rare cars indeed!

But all of the minor stuff that were improved in 94-95 can be easily changed for a 93 model if I cannot find a 94-95 right? Sorry for the questions but I'm still learning about these cars. My dad had a 1987 FC non turbo that I never really cared much for cuz I was too young (9 y/o) at the time to appreciate what we had but that car's long gone. Always had a thing for the FDs growing up, however, and didn't really start looking into them until now since I have the money.

Correct. If you end up with a 93, make sure it has had all of its recalls done.

And all that takes is a phone call to Mazda with the car's VIN and they will confirm which recalls have been done.

I hope Mazda isn't an ass like some other car companies that refuse to honor the recall cuz they claim your car is too old even though by law they MUST do it regardless of the year.

Mazda will do it..if anyone gives you trouble it would be the specific dealer, then you just call their ass in !!

every one likes the one touch down window function of the 94+ and doesnt want to sell

hahahah, I personally like the interior...,my 93's interior was terrible eventhough I constantly treated it the damn thing still peeled off

I tried to order an AC line for my 95...(parts changed from 94), and since its 10 years old and less than 500 left, Mazda discontinued the part :(

cause I bought the last ninety four :D
