Why single tubo?

I’ve seen many mods that included twin turbo reverted to single turbo. What is the benefit of doing this? If Mazda originally built this car as a twin, why make it a single?

Mazda made the car a twin turbo for more low end torque, and better response with as little lag as possible. Thats why the turbos are the size of golf balls.

A larger single produces less heat and makes more power. It also simplifies the whole vacuum hose situation the FD has stock. But it lags alot more than the stock twins.
