Bull! I spent Friday at the Lotus factory inspecting my car before a Lotus Sport teardown/upgrade.

The US cars don't get an official release until the spring and will be with the base 3.5l n/a 276Hp or so but already has many engine versions running around, I saw with my eyes. Yet to be determined the extent of production on these versions and I doubt a US version will come but Lotus is going full bore with the Evora as the chasses for future racing in 2-seat and 1-seat configurations.

Next gen street cars will get a 350Hp supercharged version of the Toyota 3.5l, race cars a 400Hp version plus either V-8 or V-10 Lexus versions. Lotus has free access to all Toyota engines and gearboxes. That said, Lotus mod’s them, they are engine experts. Remember, Lotus helped start up Cosworth a company formed by two ex. employees of Lotus that had start-up funding and first client (Ford) from Chapman/Lotus.

Actual world production 1991 to 2002 was most likely under 50,000 +/- , some 5,000 per year average. Actual number number of FD's hard to pin down as 1991/92 Rx-7 prodcuition figues included some 1992 FC's convertibles produced, but there were not many.
