Not to knock Lotus, but don't Evoras only come equipped with one engine option -- a Camry-sourced one at that?
The US cars don't get an official release until the spring and will be with the base 3.5l n/a 276Hp or so but already has many engine versions running around, I saw with my eyes. Yet to be determined the extent of production on these versions and I doubt a US version will come but Lotus is going full bore with the Evora as the chasses for future racing in 2-seat and 1-seat configurations. Next gen street cars will get a 350Hp supercharged version of the Toyota 3.5l, race cars a 400Hp version plus either V-8 or V-10 Lexus versions. Lotus has free access to all Toyota engines and gearboxes. That said, Lotus mod’s them, they are engine experts. Remember, Lotus helped start up Cosworth a company formed by two ex. employees of Lotus that had start-up funding and first client (Ford) from Chapman/Lotus. |
